Tannat, what kind of Inspiration Is this?
Next round Is only the first 4 stages clear + stormy?
( Maybe because after 4th stage, things are getting kind of easy? :D
or just to save some stages for forthcoming tarmac events? )

Good idea I think. Few stages, but they are very hard, and different weather.

Also may attract more entries if the event is a bit shorter.

Lot of tarmac events in this series so I'm trying to keep them all novel.

On the other hand, it's not so unalike the Tour de Corse in the WRC, minimal stages with some repeated :)

From the chatter I've read I'm not seeing many fans of tarmac about..

I LOVE IT!!!!!!

Looking to arrange a S2000 drive for the underdog Skoda team to assist in manufacturers points for this round, perhaps.

Tarmac I find easier, but not as fun. Crashes can end rallies, and smoothness is key.

Frozzy's Shakedown Drama!

http://i150.photobucket.com/albums/s112/Skoda-4-life/SKodaCrash.jpg

in a dramatic incident during this mornings Shakedown The VK Sport mechanics will have a race against time to repair the damage sustained to the Skoda Fabia S2000 Owned by Team boss Frozzy after a freak incident involving the pre prepared pacenotes cause a misjudgement in speed and caused the car to roll 2 times before coming to a rest after the incident we caught up with Frozzy.
" Yeah we were trying to dial the car in for the Ypres Rally and we hadn't yet made our own notes so we used some that was created by the course clerk and we got to a corner which was marked as a Fast 4 Left but we should have only have gone through in 3rd gear and so the car got a bit twitchy and the rear stepped out over the embankment and flipped us over it was a bit scary but we had 100 % trust in the car and the roll cage and we came out with out any damage

I hope to have a bit more confidence in this round. If all goes well, the old C2 should be back in form: that's to say that my PC version/steering wheel combination might be back at my disposal. :D

But I don't want to jinx my chances so we shall see.

Would I be right in assuming that each round of this championship starts on the Monday prior to the real-life event and ends the following Sunday?

You got it..

Starting this one a bit early compared to the real life one as the WRC is a bit hectic at the end of June...

Car set up In Belgium gives me a headache, because each stage demands different settings;I think gear box and suspension hardness are the keys for good times!
Question: How times near 2.30.xx In shakedown s.s. 10 are possible?
I'd like to see a replay of such a run..! Can anyone upload ?

Shakedown:
2:30.64
2:39.70.....two big mistakes and a battered car by the end!

Rally itself was excellent for Day 1, car was great set what felt like very good times. Day 2 was more tricky and I think I could have gone faster at times so I hope the Day 1 times give me enough of a cushion. Also made a mistake on one of the stages which cost me a few seconds and that could really hurt come the overall result.

I'm on a PS1, but can tell you this stage is nearly completely flat out with no brakes.

I tap the rear of the car on walls and railing from time to time, and handbrake the hairpins, but never brake on this stage.

My setup

Gearbox 0 (-1 may be an option)
Suspension +4

I use the stock PS1 controller thumbpad

I did 3 shakedown runs and got a best time of 2:43.?? But there is a lot of room for improvement, I just didn't want to waste time with it. It turns out that I have my PC version back (for now, at least) and I ran the rally with it and my wheel. Immediately, I felt way more in control and the shakedown warmed me up for the rally itself.

Day 1 went very well. No major driver errors, though a little cautious in places. I was very happy with my pace nonetheless and the conditions were perfect for S1600 machinery. Day 2 wasn't as good, but still reasonable. I had a spin on SS5 by taking a line too wide through one of the corners, then stalled it trying to pull away from an uphill hairpin. On SS6, I spun into the trees about half way through the stage, and that was a costly mistake. Other than that, day 2 was fairly good to be honest. The S1600 car didn't handle the best in the rain, a lot of understeer under acceleration, which was a problem on the long sweeping corners.

All in all, it was great fun and very enjoyable to rally with the PC wheel and game at my disposal again. I think I can do ok at this round. I'm putting my sights on the Attila Betegga cup for this season. It would be a bit optimistic to try and beat PS29 or Mithus but I think I can give the rest a run for their money (at least S1600 competitors.)

Not a good rally for me..!
I didn't have enough time to tune the set up on dampers and diff settings
so, unlike the other drivers, I did not know my car intimately!

Day 1 started pretty good, but at the end of It, I wasn't fully concentrated
and braked more than I should... During day 2, I was struggling to drive fast with
minimum use of brakes on slippery wet tarmac, but I'm not satisfied with my times...

It would be a miracle to score any points, though I'm happy I did some PB's!
At least, I've got a lot of usefull data to take away, for forthcoming tarmac events!

It was a nice event though, with good stages.
It was hard for me to do too much here..!

Hi everyone guys.I would like to disclose that was the first time I used the set up and rally was completely different

I think I have made pretty times but not for a very high position.
I told before rally begins that tarmac isn't my strong point!!
I just had to certify that but nevermind.

I'm really satisfied with my times and hope in a good position.

Day 1 Stages went very well. The car setup was very good, and gave me a lot of confidence. I think i did some good stage times, but have to wait and see.

Day 2 was also nice, had to do some setup changes because of the very slippery conditions. I think i managed not to lose 2 many seconds when comparison with day 1 times.

In 1 ou 2 points pushed 2 hard and almost crashed, but fortunely managed to evoid disaster.

"We are still lacking practice with the S2000 Car, yet the car seemed to be more fit for tarmac than a WRC car so we feel we did a pretty good rally, although there was some little event on SS3 when we found out for the 234th time that sliding on the grass isn't the best idea to take a turn!"

Just completed my rally. Bit of practice with the Skoda (Puma) would have been nice, but our times were good. Just ticks off our PBs in most cases.

Once I had completed the rally I did a few of the dry stages with my S1600 ride and think I would have finished higher had i competed with it. The WRC is far more stable with more grip, and i feel more comfortable pushing it at 10/10ths.

But our goal here was to help Skoda in the S2000 manufacturers title :D

A not so comfortable win for Homer in challenging conditions. He was followed home closely by PS29 also in a Peugeot, with Mithus upholding Skoda's honor with a fine drive to third.

4th -7th was a Skoda brigade in the following order: NOR-Tannat-JTL-jso1985. Jimakos took the final points position in 8th.

In a narrow battle for 9th Paddy Cummins held off LCD on the final stage to take the position by 8/100ths of a second!

Great entrylist and I'm chuffed with 2nd - basically a win if Homer's involved!
I'll never get closer to him, and its surprising to beat Mithus after the pace he had on shakedown.
Amazing battle for 9th as well!

Well done all for keeping up a high entry.

Cool, great stuff! Great battle LCD but I guess the better man won :D  Hopefully the PC version won't let me down for the rest of the season and I can continue to build on this pace because I'm sure I can score a few top 8 finishes before the season is out. Do I get any S1600 points or did I need a top 8?

I'm actually doing the tables based on garnered championship points, so I'm afraid not Paddy (sorry).

Although you had a fine finish for an S1600

I'm going back to S1600 for the next round. This Puma thing ain't for me....

No points for me In this rally, but as I've already said,
got useful data for forthcoming tarmac events!
Gongrats to top 3 drivers! Great battles between Tannat and JTL!
Unbelieveable 8/100ths of a second difference between me and Paddy....
Wow,that was almost real stuff mate! :D
Great job for jimakos finishing In top 8! ;)

I'm not completely satisfied with 8th position but nevermind :) .
At least I'm happy on my 3 general points in championship!!

Although,I would like to ask how times as 2:16.3 in ss1 are possible for the most of us.
Is there any trick you use or just years of practice made you better??

I wouldn't aim anywhere near Homer's times until at least 5 years of practice!! The guy's unbeatable...

Use the search tool and search for past rallies over the past several years. In all of the threads there is typicallys a discussion on stages, setups, etc..

And don't forget to search the archives as well....

Let's not miss the fun of cmr2 championship by trying to achieve the best of the best times!
I mean the point Is participating! Afterall, If I have to say my opinion about the Issue arose,
I believe It's a matter of experience mostly: I am better In some games and worse In others,
depending how long I play them!
So, don't worry about If your results aren't always good! :)
Thousands of views and hundrends of posts In these threads, aren't made just for who will come first or second!

Take It easy and enjoy the fun! :p :

I reckon having a wheel instead of a joypad or keyboard can improve your times masively once you get tthe grip of it!

jimakos
10th June 2009, 20:50
I have try to play with a wheel and it was a disaster :) .
This time I'm playing with a joystick and I'm very pleased!!
Wheel needs years of practice and to drive from inside

That's not for me!!!

52Paddy
10th June 2009, 23:08
Although you don't seem convinced, jimakos, I agree with jso. When I converted to the wheel from the keyboard and joypad a few years ago, it was a little difficult at first. But after a few runs through the stages, I found more precision in my driving. A more direct feel for where the stage was going and a foresight in getting the car into the apex (or avoiding it, if it be the case.) My times are best when I'm driving with the wheel now. So much so, that I can't compete competitively at all with anything else.

Other than that, you just have to know the stages. You need to know how to carry maximum speed through every corner and keep your lines as smooth and flowing as possible. Yes, easier said than done, and I'm certainly not claiming to be an expert. I've been rallying in this championship on and off since 2004 and I still find it a challenge to score points!

I know I am far faster on my PS1 than on my very old PC.....

This opinion is absolutely right.I agree 100%.
My computer is also quite old and abilities aren't the best :)
I have found serious differences on pc and on ps but unfortunately I haven't got my own ps!!
