Mid-season already!

The rally will be run with the following format:

Game Rally: Australia(Mirrored)
Shakedown Stage: SS5
Day 1: Single Rally Expert Level
Day 2: Single Rally Intermediate Level

Now here's another slight problem guys, next week I won't certainly have time to do the stage-by-stage results, so you guys have to choose now, deadline stays on the usual Wednesday slot but I will only publish the final standings first and the staga-by-stage results on the weekend... or the deadline is moved altogether to Saturday 15:59 GMT and the first results to be published will be the stage-by-stage ones, please tell me your choice

Have fun and good luck!

Paddy-any chance you want to swap to Ford?

I don't like seeing a rostrum of Citroens at the completion-nothing against the SEAT.

Let me know what you think

I don't want to answer for jso but the championship is free to join any time so I'm sure he'll be glad to have another entrant.

Wait for jso first though as I may be talking rubbish!

Yes, Ford is fine by me. Sorry, I've not been around the sim forum for a while. I must get a hold on the CMR2WC calendar. Is there anywhere I can find it?

Also, I'll need a deadline extension until Saturday. I'm real busy during the week and only now have I noticed this rally.

It would be interesting to run 20 stages per rally. 10 mirrored and 10 normal per rally.

It was just a thought, dont want alarm bells to start going off.

jso1985
27th May 2009, 22:27
Deadline moved to Saturday 15:59 GMT, I'm in need of that extension too...

Sure you can run Steve! pick a car and team name and have fun!, about your idea, we used that system until 2002 but we dropped that idea to make every rally unique, ie if we used one day normal and the other mirrored, in this case Italy and Australia would be similar rallyes, although if the idea gets enough votes we can use that system next year.

Tannat and Paddy, please note that if any of you used a Xsara for shakedown you have to use it for the rally and the car swap can take effect on the next round

Rally Complete for PS29

Shakedown:
2:30.33
2:32.04
2:30.17

The rally itself went really well, and without counting my chickens too early I really hope for a podium. I love SS4 and it would be great if I could get my first SS win. Anyway, in my first event in a Xsara after the Focus let me down, I felt the Citroen had far more control and it is easier to throw around and have a bit of fun.
Looking forward to the results on Sunday!

You post the shakedown times on this forum just to gauge where evryone is before the actual rally. Not needed though.

Day one stage times

stage 1] 3.25.38
stage 2] 3.00.40
stage 3] 2.55.95
stage 4] 3.31.70
stage 5] 3.04.13

Would you like the results for day 2 or are we doing day 2 separate?

pettersolberg29
30th May 2009, 13:28
No idea what you've just posted, as there are 10 stages in day 1 but that is unimportant.
Anyway, you don't post the results on the forum, you PM them to JSO otherwise other cheats may look at them, take a second off just to make sure they win etc.
If I were you I would edit your post or delete it asap and send them to JSO instead.

Ok i am a tad confused here. It says 10 stages for day 1...mirrored. So what stages are day 2?

52Paddy
30th May 2009, 18:22
I've PM'd my times and finished the rally. It was dreadful. I just couldn't concentrate on driving and had an incident packed rally. The car was so badly damaged, even after service repairs, that it was difficult to make any progress with a car so hard to drive. It was a tough farewell for the Citroen from Fine Wine Motorsport's #2 driver, but I'm looking forward to the more stable Focus on the next round. However, the main problem is that I'm never going to have the edge I had with the wheel/PC combination on the joypad/PS configuration. :(

pettersolberg29
30th May 2009, 18:58
Paddy - you saying you can't do as well with the joypad makes me think a wheel is a must-buy.
In 2008 I drove this competition using the keyboard, and going up to a joypad my times have shot down and I'm much neater with less accidents. Perhaps a wheel could let me challenge at the top...?

We'll see if I can afford a cheap one - any reccomendations?

The joypad can give you top times if you're used to it. But I had been playing with the wheel for so long (not just on CMR2, practically all of my car games) that the sudden transition to a joypad is very difficult and uncomfortable. Certainly, even if it takes some adjusting to initially, I believe a wheel will ultimately give you better control and thus, better stage times.

Although you might be strapped for cash, the better wheel you buy, the better the experience will be. I have a Logitech G-Force Pro (I think thats the name, it was associated with GT4 when it came out a few years ago.) Its a smashing wheel, even though there are newer models available. I'm sure if you do a bit of internet shopping you could pick one up for a reasonable price. I wholeheartedly recommend it.

pettersolberg29
31st May 2009, 11:21
Cheers Paddy - what price is it roughly? I don't want to be ripped off! Also, I assume it definately plays with CMR2, and what about RBR?

Thanks anyway.

I bought it new a few years ago and I think it cost me between €120 and €150. But that was a while ago. I would imagine they're considerably less now. Shop around.

Yes, it definitely plays with CMR2 and RBR and most other games I have. I had it running on Windows XP Home Edition and a pretty standard performance PC so you should be fine.

Paddy - is this the one?

If so, how hard is it to get it working on the PC?

52Paddy
31st May 2009, 21:12
Yes that's it! Its real easy to get it working. I didn't even have to install it. It plugs in via USB connection, the computer recognises it and hey presto! Then you can play it on your game. You might just need to go to game options and select wheel preferences for some basic setup but its fairly straightforward to be honest.

I feel a bit like the real Petter Solberg at Rally GB 2005 with the only reason I won being Marcel and Homer's absences. 10 stage wins is fantastic for me though, and I'm delighted to win my first CMR2 event. Its a shame I missed two rounds otherwise I'd stil be in with a shout for all 3 championships...
