Andrews, Brookes and O'Halloran woo! Is the weather wet or do Kawasaki finally have a well resourced team with a good rider to be in third possie?

Andrews, Brookes and O'Halloran woo! Is the weather wet or do Kawasaki finally have a well resourced team with a good rider to be in third possie?

It's dry, yep Simon Andrews is looking good on that Kawasaki - he rode a Yamaha for a small team last year and was really fast and consistent. Being on a Kwak is obviously a bit of a different animal but he's got raw pace (he ran well early on at Oulton Park with no electronics before tyre issues forced him back). He's also got Julian da Costa as a team-mate who's quite fast but hasn't got qualifying and starts quite nailed just yet (da Costa being better known as an enduro world champ).

Unfortunately as you guys may have seen elsewhere, Sylvain Guintoli broke his leg today after an extremely unlucky accident on the pit out lap today as the riders made their way to the grid prior to the start of the first race. Josh Brookes' brakes failed coming into the Melbourne Hairpin and he T-boned Guintoli, who's suffered a broken tibia and fibula which will keep him out of action for at least a couple of months. Extremely unlucky for a very likeable guy who's been a great addition to the BSB paddock.

The races were won by Leon Camier and James Ellison on the Airwaves/GSE Yamahas - Camier had electrical trouble in race two which put him down the order; it was Ellison's first BSB win. Chris Walker took a warmly-received podium in race two; his first rostrum trip in some time. Stuart Easton took two podiums (third and second) and is up to third overall; Simon Andrews got fourth in race two on the Kawasaki (a career best) after crashing in race one, his team-mate Julian da Costa suffering technical issues late on after he was up in fourth.

The evergreen Steve Plater (40 years of age) took the Supersport race ahead of Dan Linfoot (half Plater's age); Paul Young (also 40 years old!) has finished second on the road but was disqualified for being underweight by half a kilo.

Brookes suspended for 3 BSB meetings by Judicial Panel over collision with Guintolli.

Rod, it's a one-race ban suspended for three meetings, so he's on probation effectively.

Revision to what I said above then: unfortunately a major misjudgement from Josh, obviously he's "not the type" as we're familiar with him from WSS but a big error has been made on his part today.

Thanks Pat......I obviously misinterpreted the wording. It's a shame for Guintolli and his standing in the championship.
