Max, 69, had been due to fly out to Spain for this weekend’s Grand Prix, but last night cancelled his plans.
Yesterday former F1 team boss Eddie Jordan said: “Max and Alexander particularly were very close.”
He said father and son shared “a great intellect” and described Alex as a “hugely clever and talented computer expert”.
Mr Jordan added: “It’s totally tragic, he was such a bright boy. I’m devastated for them.”
But one neighbour, who refused to be named, said: “I don’t think it was a big secret that he was a heroin user.
