Despite some saying this was an off the cuff comment, there appears to be something behind it. I have yet to see TG say he wasn't serious when he said this.

What's to say the man doesn't change his mind?
It is his money, he has the right to change his mind and the right to end the series.
Many got angry at KK, not me, it was his money, and buying tickets, flying to races and watching every other race on TV is not the same, it is their money, losing money is not that fun.

Well done Tony. Screw up a viable race series and let the one you created fall to *****. Then you force a merger and if you do not see a profit by 2013, that's 4 years from now, you will fold the series. Way to go and you looking for a new engine deal and chasis.
Great business sense on your part. Did this just come to you now or were you aware of it when you signed Versus to this failing enterprise.
My marketing friend from an old sponsor that put over $100 million into the CARTseries said you had no clue then and I am sure he must feel a sense of vindication now.
Many answers have come to fruition. KK with one car. Why would he risk all that money on two. No Forsyth, Gentilozzi. No ratings and no crowdS.
You're out in 2013 yet you sign a ten year dealwith Versus. Jeeeesh. No wonder I was a Champ car and CART fan. This crapwagon is hard to generate an interest in except for what is left of the old series. I hope Wilson, Power, Servia(if he gets a ride) Philippe and all the rest of the former series get rides in other series. Maybe A1. It is a better series than this one or maybe GP2.

Wow, you must be really close to your friend. I hope he/she makes better decisions than the boss. I guess misery does love company.

What's there to fight about? Kalkhoven now races in Tony's series.

Those dissidents hanging their crown jewels on that comment didn't report -- maybe TG wasn't even asked -- what alternatives might be optional and/or what steps would be tried or taken to reach profitability by 2013.

Someone in the Indy media needs to ask him the question directly. Then we could stop guessing.

Exactly, that is why talking about sides in this thread was not a good idea, there are no more sides.

What does that snarky sarcastic comment mean? Spit it out if you know what you are talking about. The money went to a viable team in a viable series until a certain individual started making waves and calling the shots about certain races. If you can't comprehend the point then keep quiet. This certain individual who is now in control of the only open wheel series didn't have a clue. That was the issue. The money had already been allocated. The decision was a profitable one and one of the drivers was racing last week and actually won. The other will be with Geico and KV racing. Need anymore clues?
So, you should go and join your own "misery loves company group when you can decipher what is evident to everyone but you"

Well technically, the IRL is bankrupt. Tony George is just funding their debts, the same as Kalkhoven did for CCWS.

Why would you be part of a business if you think it will not be prfitable?, I´m sure people involve think it can be profitable.
It should be profitable, having a dead line makes sense, ¨I will continue to pay the bills up to (insert any date) but will close shop after that".
We can romanticize all we want, spending your money is not fun and sometimes you have to impose a limit, TG is imposing himself a limit.

That is why I commented that it is just TG imposing a limit on himself, if he was sure of failure, he would close shop today, he thinks it is very possible to be profitable in 2013, hence he is just saying, now or never.
Don´t worry, I did all my errands yesterday and I´m comfortably watching the Dynamo game.

No objections from this side, I have visit the dirt track between Willis and Huntsville, the amateur feel to the races is a good one, no one there racing for the money or the glory, just for the love of racing.

I have to ask the question that seems to have gone unasked in all this discussion. That is, why did it take five months for Anthony Schoettle to bring this up? The quote was made back in December. Anthony offers nothing new in this article. So why now? Oh could it be because it is now the month of the 500? Sounds like a bit of opportunistic journalism to me?
Now before I get jumped on, I take no exception to anything said in the article, I just question its timing that's all.

We'll hook up sometime, I'm more of a ASA late model guy, we can do the pits at HMP introduce you to some of the teams... if you like...have you ever been to an Outlaw race?
I hear Battleground is back but the best dirt is east and north of us...

Surprisingly, it was nothing on the forum; it was actually real work that kind of blew up in my face.
It took a couple, three hours to get straightened out and then I saw what I had posted. The good news is that the keyboard still works after I replaced the spring under the "1" key. They really should make those springs more resistant to damage by flying telephone handsets.
