Target Penske Indycar? (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ONYX-TARGET-PENSKE-INDYCAR-067-EDDIE-CHEEVER_W0QQitemZ260368672560QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK _ToysGames_DiecastVehicles_DiecastVehicles_JN?hash =item260368672560&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A13 18)

What's the story, if there is one? I never knew Cheever drove for Penske or that Penske was ever sponsored by Target. Looks eerily similar to their current paint scheme too...

This person has some decent stuff, I think I still have my Andretti car similar to his.

Might be a Penske Chassis ???

I was looking at Eddie's bio and he never drove for Penske. These were his teams:

Arciero Racing
Chip Ganassi Racing
Team Menard
King Racing
Turley Motorsports
A. J. Foyt Enterprises

Upon further research, Eddie Cheever did drive a Penske chassis for Target Chip Ganassi Racing in 1990 CART IndyCar World Series. He won Rookie of the Year that year.

Ganassi bought/tookover Patrick Racing team in 1990, which was running Penske chassis'

For instance Emerson Fittipaldi won the 1989 Indy 500 in a Penske, but driving for Patrick Racing, not Roger's team

That car, in no way, is a Penske Marlboro-type paint job. Nor is it the Target car that Cheever drove, which had a typical Target paint scheme. My guess is that it's a different car that if we can find out what Lola #067 is, we'll know what one it is.

Well Indycool you need to check your Indy history. The car is a PC-18 entered in the 1990 Indy 500 by Chip Ganassi and driven by Eddie Cheever. Here is a photo that's a little better. Notice the the car ran with the number 25 on it instead or the 15.

That looks like Target to me.....and I barely remember that Patrick was using Penske chassis, much less that Target was the sponsor or Cheever was driving....

Chip still looked kind of heavy even back then.

I stand corrected, but those are neither Marlboro nor Target paint schemes.

Looks like a Target to me. And it says Target right on it. The car has a big red Target logo that covers the whole car. How can that not be a Target paint scheme ?

That was the "typical" target paint scheme I remember When Cheever was with Chip. IIRC they ran with a reversed scheme that was red with white circles in 90 (?) until they went to the red car with Scotch on the black sidepods in '92? I seem to also recall a black car with Target on the cockpit sides at some point but I may just be thinking of the Scotch cars with Lyundyke and Gordon.

IC you are defiantly a stump on this. The Target paint scheme has changed a lot in the past 19 years or could it be that anything pre-IRL doesn't count in your mind. It's the Target car that Ganassi ran when he bought Pat Patrick out.

Nope, not at all. Said I stood corrected. Good call. Didn't remember Target started out like that and know Marlboro didn't.

But it was the second part of your sentence that has us confused. Yes it is not a Marlboro pant scheme, but it sure looks like a target one or an homage to Target at the very least.

I said it looks similar to their current scheme, leave it up to some to dispute my personal opinion. Forgot that Penske made and sold several chassis.

Thanks for the comments... geez

Yeah, Gary, I was confusing. Target has been different for a long time. I forgot that one.
