Does anyone know when the date when the first official entries start flowing in ? And when the official entry list is closed ???
Also there has been talk of De Ferran running Takuma Sato at Indy. Has anyone else heard of this ?
As of right now the announced one-offs are
Tracy - KVRT
Hamilton - Dreyer & Rheinbold
Fisher - SF Racing
J. Andretti - Dreyer & Rheinbold/Petty
Sharp - Panther
Duno - Dreyer & Rheinbold
Scheckter - 3G (iffy)
Lloyd - Sam Schmidt
B. Lazier - Hemelgarn
Pole Day and Bump Day are shaping up to be mega-events in and of themselves.

Yes you are right Chamoo. I edited after I took a closer look. There are a lot of TBA cars. That will make for some exciting speculation.
Entries are still open until when ?? When is the deadline for submitted entries ?

I doubt there is a serious deadline. If someone showed up and wanted to run a car, I don't think they'd be turned away. I would think bump day is the deadline really.
Check my blog for notes about the entry list, and feel free to add your own notes on the comment section as well.

Does anyone have historical data on which and how many TBA cars have actually made it to qualifying and race day ???

No actually historical data, but I'd say it varies from year to year. Especially during the split, I think near the end where they were struggling for 33, I'd assume almost every TBD made it because they had to. I remember one car being sponsored by an amateur hockey team, which led most people (myself included) to believe that those TBD cars were being propped up to make sure they got to 33.
I think last year 5 of them didn't make it to the track, then 1 of them wrecked and couldn't make qualifying. Don't quote me on that, but that's what I recall from 08.
I'd expect from the entry list published today that atleast 37 will make it to Bump Day.

The official list from Indycar.com 28 drivers, 40 entries counting T-Cars. No huge surprises except for the two cars from Roth Racing. If I had to guess I would say the 8, 17, 19, 22, and 36 make it, which makes 33 cars, and we'll probably see some second week entries and maybe Marty Roth has found a couple of ride buyers (Phillipe?) looks like there could be some decent bumping and we could see some mid and back of pack teams not make it. No de Farren, no Fernandez, and those guys don't seem like the kind to come in and half-butt a second week effort.

I doubt RLR even makes an attempt.
Marty Roths cars will be fast if both attempt to qualify. Those cars have all the bits on them, they just used to be piloted by Roth which was not good. Put some decent drivers in them (ala Andretti and Howard) and the cars got much better.
I don't think you can really guess yet, because some of these third cars are going to either be skeleton crews or be the worst cars each team has.

Teams are still putting deals together, and Sato/de Ferran might show up. Philippe or HVM 2nd car wasn't on the first entry list, so there is still hope for some surprises.

Looks like a great 500 to look forward too in grandstand a. I will have to make it too a practice day also. Still though will anything ever beat that great pass by miera last year on the front straight. Best pass I have ever seen.
