I used to care about this sort of thing. But now IMO if she goes to NASCAR, it could only be a good thing for the IRL. Does anyone really feel like she stills adds something to the series? Looking at the last 3-5 years, she hasn't really helped ratings.

Regardless, it doesn't sound like she would actually go, but with this as her contract year the question will probably keep coming up. And I'm sure she's happy to oblige the journalists as it only helps her bargaining abilities:

I cannot see any NASCAR team even considering her. There are umpteen drivers with far better records that can't get a ride and her attitude has not helped her.

Let her go. I double dog dare her.

Unless she went to a NASCAR team with enough points to gift her into the field, she'd be back in the IRL before the end of the 2010 season. On the other hand, that "go or go home" thing might mean she could spend a lot more time doing magazine shoots and GoDaddy commercials.

she is a big name, in open weel racing, and seeing how nascar always takes open weel drivers, why not take Danica, but i dont think that will happen, not till she wins indy, she always said "my dream is to win indy" after that whats left for her? so yeah i bet shes going to nascar, after she wins indy

That's about what I'm thinking. Look what Cup racing did to Franchitti.

Montoya has transitioned well, Hornish is finally coming around enough to think he might make a career or it.

you can add AJ to that list also, Speed is coming to terms so I will cut him the slack for the year,

Danica's transition to NASCAR I believe would be extremely difficult.

I think you have found the reason for the talk. Talk of moving to NASCAR could easily be a bargaining chip. But that only works if anyone was pursuing her for the series, and beyond a few pleasantries, no one in NASCAR has shown any serious interest. She needs to stay focused on doing well this year in the IRL.

Danica' s camp is talking of NASCAR because they are looking down the road for contract negotiations and you want to make everyone interested think they may have to be in a bidding war for her services. After this weeks LB run, I would wager there might be some interest. She is slowly coming around to being competant but I cant see NASCAR teams looking at her seriously EXCEPT for her ability to draw in sponsors. They sure as heck wouldn't be after her as the best driver available. OW drivers from the IRL/CART side of racing have had a rough adjustment period and most top NASCAR teams would want her to run Nationwide or the Truck series first. The new COT cup cars are NOT easy to learn, espeically with the NASCAR test ban.

Danica isn't going anywhere...despite what her managers would leak to the press. What is more, she shouldn't go anywhere. She has her best chance of proving her naysayers wrong in a car she knows, not one she has to learn. Furthermore, until she wins another race, her Japan win will be seen by many as a fluke. I thought it was...but I will give her fans the satisfaction that I now think maybe she has enough talent to hang around.

It's a marketing series more than a stock car racing series. They'll love to have her (they=NASCAR media marketing Inc) Imagine if Danica is shoved off the racing line by Kyle Busch and she crashes out, followed by a pitlane confrontation. Imagine the flurry of comments by talking and typing heads stoking the flames of verbal warfare between Danica's preformed female fan legion and their woman-bashing insecure couch potato NASCAR boyfriends. It's a NASCAR promoter's dream scenario...
