More rumours on foreign forums.
Who can confirm this rumours?
But where smoke is, there is also fire.
Without the support of both Corsican departments also the Tour the Corse have been doomed to disappear.
This rally become also the victim of the money sigh of the FIA.

First the teams exodus, Peugeot, Mitsu, Skoda, Suzuki, and Subaru, now the events themselves follow...............

Well, not quite, but WRC has to put a new dress on. Thatīs for sure. And much will happen very soon. Iīm sure about that.

You (FIA) absolutely have to do something radical when these dark cloudes are coming up the sky.

For me I think very much depends on costs that are very much high because of many VIP: s can live a luxury life on the events and to feed the FIA themselves. If cost are cut down even FIA should make moves to bring down their own costs.

Hope NORF is standing outside these troubles, being the best round in the WRC. ;)

Tour de Corse is no longer under any threat.

The 2008 edition was simply the last Corsica Rally of the WRC era.

From now on, the Limousin Rally organizers are on the list to replace the Corsica round.
But there seems to be several issues linked to environment problems, budgets, etc...

Tour de Course is not included in the 2009 calendar, so for what championship should the Limousin rally replace the Tour de Course?
The rally is on the roll for the 2010 championship, but it is stil unclear if it will be a normal ful year championship or a winter championship

WRC 2010

Limousin would then replace Corsica which was provisionally due to be run on October 2010.

What is the mean reason for not sponsoring any more? Did the rally made to much losses in the past?

Maybe it it because it's not worth sponsoring a minority sport. Who watches it? Who really wants to watch it - it's hardly a 'must-see' sport is it? If people aren't watching it, then sponsors don't get value for money.

My pleasure Alleskids :)

To answer your question, the Tour de Corse rally has seen a multitude of difficulties since a while and each edition could have been the last one. It was always rescued generally just before the start.

Money is key but main reason is the internal political climax related to the status of the island, something i won't address here, eventually lead to a lack of sponsors, or if you prefer it a little less politically correct : sponsors to run and stay away from Corsica.

Mix it with last Andy's post + GB Rally current situation and you will get the picture.
