Autosport and Autosprint today quoted Fiat's Head of Brand and Commercial Activities Luca de Meo as saying that FIAT want to do the WTCC with a Bravo and that Alfa would probably do GT then.

sounds likely, FIAT are heavily working on their brand at the moment, employing a number of key Ferrari personnel to improve the image and quality of the range, which is beginnning to work out with the new Grande Punto, Panda and now Bravo. it would make sense for them to further this through WTCC.

however, what would Alfa use in GT's, the GT is no racer, the new Berera nothing more than a touring coupe and the 8C competizione (which is beautiful) is likely to be a very limited run of road cars which may not lend itself to a GT programe.

of course they could run in protptype class or something but i don't think Alfa could even begin to afford that at the moment.

can someone refresh my memory, are Alfa and Fiat part of the same stable these days, in which case they would be stepping on the toes of Maserati in GT's?

I think Alfa Romeo are develping he 8C to be a GT car, look at the MC 12's production numbers, way less than the 8C's

i didn't realise they planned to run the 8C in GT's, i hope it gets all the help in the world as it should win whioslt standing still, a truly beautiful car.

granted the MC12 was a very low production run, but it is largley a Faerrari Enzo underneath, i belive the 8C is more of a standalone design, although i think i read it does share some common parts with a new maserati.

as long as Alfa were replaced in Touring cars (and there would still be plenty of 2nd hand 156's around) then i wouldn't mind one bit, the Fiat could be a decent entry
