i know its been a while but having no idea what has become of the team and effects.
what has happened to the cars i mean are they some where in Japan or have they been sold off to privateers some where in the world?

I doubt they sold them on, they'd be a little like the BX4TC's of 86', an embarrassment. Id say they dismantled them but who knows, interesting question though... Didnt Mitsubishi destroy most of their WRC's in Japan after pulling out?

It's a pity, the car lacked engine power but it was nice to see/hear (already in Monte 2008 - I was there) and very stable (as we have seen from PJ performance in Wales)

I hope they aren't destroying them like Mitsu evil minds.

Do they have S2000 plans with the car? They could recycle a lot of the car in a S2000 configuration.

If it's true that SX4's got already scrapped, it's really a shame. SX4 wasn't competitive enough but I liked its appearance.

I heard Suzuki is one of the manufacturers who is pushing 1600cc turbo car format because they want to use their best selling car, Swift, at the top level.

Urmo Aava says that Suzuki are currently building an S2000 car for WRC

One of the SX4s is heading to Barbados in the fall. Rallying in Barbados is really getting interesting. We have S9s, S12s, a Corolla and Escort WRC and now an SX4!

john powell subaru s12b

roger hill corrola wrc

sean gill suzuki sx4wrc

trevor manning ford escort cosworthwrc

jon lint so the sx4wrc is gardemeisters ex car then?

guys if u want to come to barbados to see the car in action the next big event in barbados is the rally sun and stars september 12th.

only two international drivers ever won rallies in barbados kenny mckinstry and kris meeke both won rally barbados twice.

paul bird came 2nd twice. mark higgins crash out after leading in the rally sun and stars in 2007. so only irish drivers had luck in barbados.

i heard the sx4wrc would be in barbados for this event.it is the next big rally after rally barbados.

Why would Suzuki want to destroy its own cars?
It would be nice to have seen them sold in the UK.

jonlint

They are not destroyed. After a long wait and delays, at least one, maybe both, will be in Barbados competing soon. I am sure there will be pics posted here when the SX4s show up.

I have been in contact with Monster Tajima last week about doing an article for a magazine about Monster and Suzuki Sport. He has invited me to his Yokohama base (just working on a time now) and I have a feeling the cars might be there.

Will be able to let you all know when I head there.

It is a custom built one. It was reportedly built by MML, but definitely not an ex-works car.

So the cars never made it to Barbados, where did they end up then?

Yes it was built by MML. It also has the engine from a Mitsubishi Lancer WRC05 in it. Find some videos on Youtube and listen to it ;)

Check out Welcome to JustBajan.com (http://www.justbajan.com) and Sol Rally Barbados Official Website | (http://www.rallybarbados.bb) for pics and info on rallying in Barbados. Rallying is the No1 spectator sport in Barbados and people are rally crazy there. We have a long tradition of rallying and have some serious machinery. Between local machines and a few from Trinidad and Jamaica, we boast an S12b, Corolla WRC, the SX4, S9, Escort WRC, and 05, 06 and 07 Focus WRCs. Beside that, we have some crazy 2WD cars such as Starlets and BMWs that on a good day can be up there at the tail end of the WRCs and regularly beating group N cars. The rallies are mostly tarmac and are very special. The grip is terrible and the roads are very bumpy. Local knowledge is huge and only top guest drivers such as Kris Meeke and Higgins can keep up with the locals.

The rally team behind the SX4 argue that it is a Suzuki engine. I guess we will never know :)

Hey Johnno ,it is a suzuki engine , just with the WR mitsu ancilliries , manifolds , gearbox etc , everything bar the engine (head block and internals ) is mitsu WRC

I think I have it. Its a complete Mitsu WRC engine design with a different piece of cast iron for the block and head modified to adapt Mitsu WRC ancillaries. Mitsu WRC Engine it is then!

The thread is about where the SX4s we saw in the WRC went to, then Pucksy54 posts a picture of one indicating that they did go to Barbados. But then I read once again this car is a very good replica with lots of Mitsubishi parts built by MML. I am confused.

Hopefully Pucksy can explain this.

Did the cars that Tajima was involved with in the WRC, where they made in Japan or I think Suzuki had many ties in Hungary but then monstersport europe is in the uk now?
