View Full Version : STR Brings Brook Johnston To China: Could Buemi Get Dropped?

Scuderia Toro Rosso has been struggling this last couple races with the new Swiss driver in the lineup, Sebastian Buemi. But could Toro Rosso be interested in going for a Championship and finding a more worthy prize fighter in the car? Red Bull's American Open Wheel Phenom was seen in Shanghai this past weekend and was rumored to have been doing some trials and testing with Toro Rosso in case Buemi fails to make the shot. Bruno Senna is the back-up driver at the moment yet for some reason has not shown that Toro Rosso in content on him. Could his tests and trials be too slow? Johnston was interviewed by the press Sunday saying that he could only say that he was very excited to be there and thanked Red Bull for having him. Not very much information was leaked, however we know that Toro Rosso always has their interests in America. But I am still banking on Buemi finishing out the season with Senna as the backup. Could be a shocker though!

why would Buemi be dropped? he had a great debut in australia and got some points. Malaysia I didnt see much of him and anything could have happened in that wet race. Buemi has done alright all things considered I dont see why replacing him would be a good idea.

it may be that Brendon Hartley has not got the super licence yet

“We (Toro Rosso and Red Bull Racing) will share the third driver. It is Brendon Hartley, who is the driver from the Red Bull driver pool,” the Austrian said

New Zealander Brendon Hartley, a Red Bull junior driver, had been lined up for the role but the 19-year-old was unable to obtain the mandatory super-licence.

anyone who watched the first two races would know that Buemi is surpassing everyones expectations. Admitedly everyones expectations for him where low, but I think he is doing a very good job, he has a team mate who is way way WAY more experienced then he is, but he is keeping up and in some cases beating him.

He won't get dropped.

Must be slumping red bull sales in the usa.....

I doubt Buemi will get droped after just 2 races, especially after he did quite well in Oz.

My question is, who the hell is Brook Johnston? I've never heard of him.

If anyone gets dropped from STR itll be Bourdais. I dont think he's that good in F1 and if anyone comes into STR they'll replace Bourdais. I think Bourdais is more suited to the american scene.

My three drivers to be replaced by the years out:

Nakajima
Piquet jnr
Bourdais

Erm, Danger Zone, how come the 7 posts you have made in this forum are all about Brook Johnston?

http://www.motorsportforums.com/forums/search.php?searchid=372547

Wouldn't be that your desperately trying to 'big up' a driver who is paying you, would it?

If so, he should ask for his money back and spend it on something more valuable, because it isn't working.

Who's this Brook Johnston???

Somebody who gets his mate* to post hopelessly optimistic press releases on internet forums in the vain hope it will get him an F1 seat.

*I hope for his sake it's not his management company, that would be really sad.

You're right, some people are a bit lost.
Like if any team manager would have time to read message boards!

It gets better...I searched Google for more stuff about this supposed US Hotshoe and found this...

"Johnston's fatal crash at the Monza circuit has certainly shown no weakness, for the American driver has not let down a single bit"

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/46124-brook-johnston-takes-the-pole-in-rio-de-janeiro-a-force-to-be-reckoned-with

Fxxxxxg hell this lad must be good.....not even Clark or Senna could win after their fatal accidents!

Also, I'm pretty sure that 'Formula BMW International' doesn't exist as a series!

One thing about Johnston that really endears me to him is the way he plays down all his achievements .

That article didn't even mention that he has won the Nobel prize 6 times , for his work for peace within the racing world .
Nor did it talk about how he was the real force behind the success of Mother Theresa , or the fact that the Pope never makes a decision without calling him .

Rumour in the paddock is that all this standardization of parts talk is about making it so he can't run away with the series .

I don't think they should let him drive in F1 .
He's simply too good .

Hey, if he can win a championship that doesn't exist....whilst being dead and winning races after his 'fatal' accident....not to mention win at Monaco on a weekend when the streets are open to the public....far more impressive than winning on Grand Prix weekend...then not allowing him to race in F1 won't stop him from winning the 2009 World Championship.

I'm off down the bookmakers now with my life-savings to place a bet. The Brawn diffuser may be legal, but it won't stop Brook Johnston.

Oli_M
15th April 2009, 14:35
And he appears to have driven for 'Sauber Red Bull' a lot..... which is very impressive since they don't even exist.

It seems like someone has gone to an awful lot of effort to make someone up like this..... I wonder why?

This just in: Team Maclaren to replace Hamilton. Ron Dennis said, "We need a driver with better skills and ability, and we hired a driver whose name rhymes with ability. He is incredibly fast, and learns very quickly as to which hand is feeding him. We were very impressed by his ability to tell many lies without getting tangled in webs, never backstabs, as well as being able to show that he has no rat in his bloodline. He recently won LeMans, the Indy 500, two can-Am races at Riverside and the last formula one grand prix at Waktins Glen. We are hoping to work out the key details on how we will afford the kool aid, but otherwise everything is good to go.

We would like to wish Hamilton well with his new team mate, Brook Johnston at Team Lotus Wild Flower."

Taylor Alison Swift (born December 13, 1989) is an American country-pop singer-songwriter. In 2006, she released her debut single "Tim McGraw", which peaked at number six on the Billboard country charts. Later in October 2006, she released her self-titled debut album, which produced five hit singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts and was certified 3× Multi-Platinum by the RIAA. The New York Times described Swift as "one of pop's finest songwriters, country’s foremost pragmatist and more in touch with her inner life than most adults".

According to Nielsen SoundScan, Swift was the biggest selling artist of 2008 in America with combined sales of more than four million albums. Swift's Fearless and her self-titled album finished 2008 at number three and number six respectively, with sales of 2.1 and 1.5 million. She was the first artist in the history of Nielsen SoundScan to have two different albums in the Top 10 on the year end album chart.

had a look on the redbull website
nothing
rick kelly as an example
http://www.redbull.com.au/#page=ArticlePage.1210304119476-2089318357.0

Rick Kelly has had one of the most successful rookie starts in the history of Australian car racing.

At 17, an age most drivers still have to drive with their parents, he was driving at speeds over 250 kmh on his way to a second placing, by just a solitary point, in the Formula Ford Championship in 2000. The next year he moved to Formula Holden, aged 18, and claimed 12 wins of a possible 16, including six pole positions to become the first rookie ever to claim the Australian Drivers Championship series and take out the coverted CAMS Gold Star Award.
