Curt Cavin mentioned in his recent article that the end list would be put out early next week for the 93rd Indianapolis 500-Mile Race.

Anyone have any thoughts to the amount of car/driver combos and if there will be any surprises?

I've figured we are guarenteed at minimum 33 cars to attempt to qualify. It's the surprises and some lesser known cars that will get us to have a significant bump day, which I think we will see.

My prediction is between 35 and 38 cars.

I'll be disappointed if Paul Tracy isn't there....that's all I am going to say.

Well wot have we got at the moment

AGR: Danica Patrick, Tony Kanaan, Marco Andretti, Hideki Mutoh
PENSKE: Ryan Briscoe, Will Power or Helio Castroneves
GANASSI: Scott Dixon, Dario Franchitti
NHL: Graham Rahal, Robert Doornbos, Milka Duno**
VISION: Ed Carpenter, Ryan Hunter-Reay
D&R: Mike Conway, Darren Manning
PANTHER: Dan Wheldon, Scott Sharp
3G: Stanton Barrett, Tomas Scheckter*
DALE COYNE: Justin Wilson
HVM: EJ Viso
KVRT: Mario Moraes
FOYT: Vitor Meira
CONQUEST: Alex Tagliani
LUCZO DRAGON: Raphael Matos
SFR: Sarah Fisher
PETTY: John Andretti
SSM: Alex Lloyd
KINGDOM: Davey Hamilton

* Dont know if that is official
** She's listed in Austosport but i dont know if she'll be there

At the moment, it looks healthy, 29 cars (28 if you dont include Duno) with all the last minute conformations to come, i think it will be around 36-37 cars overall so there should be a proper bump day.

Oh and like Mark said earlier, it will be disappointing not to see Paul Tracy get a drive for the race

So the way I see it is take the 22 cars from St Pete.

Add to that the known announcements: Schmidt-1, Sarah Fisher-1, King/D&RR-1, Panther-1, 3G-1 and you're at 27

Then the way I see it there are 9-10 entries that could come together between now and then de Ferran-1, KVRT-1, Conquest-1, Coyne-1, Kingdom-1, AGR-1, Ferandez-1, Foyt-1, RLR-1 and then there are the rumors about Marty Roth

Ideally you could be looking at a 40 car ceiling. I don't think it'll get that high, but I wouldn't be surprised to see two or more cars go home.

I think there is a better than strong chance PT will be there. Robin Miller states in his mail bag column that he has a "hunch". That usually means he knows something but PT asked him not to leak it yet.

As far as with who, don't automatically assume it'll be with KVRT. You have rumors of a 5th car coming out of AGR and given they are promoting the Toronto race, it makes a ton of sense for him to end up there where he has a chance to run up front. Add to that the fact they only have 1 driver out of 4 with a shot at winning (Kanaan) and it'd be hard to see putting Montagany in a car with zero oval experience. PT won AGR's first 500 when it was still TKG.

and if McLaren get booted from F1 add Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen. Lol.

I reckon all 33 cars will start the race, its too much of a draw for there to be less.

I was just watching my dvr'd recording of last weeks"the speed report". And, they and Robin Miller, are talking about Richard Petty taking John Andretti(too bad not AJ, but no 500 experience I suppose) to this years I500. Naskar coming to Indycar, not bad.

I really hope there are more than 33 entries, or else things will be in serious trouble. Although I'm personally thinking 35 will be as high as it goes. I hope I'm wrong - and more importantly, that as many as possible of them are 'serious' entries.

There are some sound reports coming out of Indy right now saying that Paul Tracy will have a ride in this year's Indy 500 and other selected IndyCar races this year. No words as of yet on the team or sponsor. I hope so. Having Paul part-time is better than no Paul I guess.

Was that number a reference to cars or actual car/driver pairings?

So if Roger was entering two cars for Briscoe, for example, was Miller counting that as one or two?
