Legionella may be very serious in some cases. I hope he gets well soon!

legionella can be found in water. But it can also spread via air (like via Aircondition if the AC has water cooling).

in 1979 legionella spread via the AC system in a Swedish shopping galleria.
The Bacteria had origin from the water in the AC's cooling tower on the roof and then spread via the air from the AC system.

Legionella is serios business.. We had it at work one time but finally got rid off it!

Common symptoms are headache, muscle pain, laxity, fever and dry cough. Stomach pain and diarrhea may occur. Radiograph of the lungs often pneumonia changes. The disease can be fatal. According to the health department, dyingrate is between 3-5% of patients entered for legionellose.

It can appear anywhere there is water with tempratur between 25-40 degrees celsius and if its got acces to nutrients.

Bacteria is transmitted by that you breathe in small water droplets (aerosols, steam) with elements of Biofilm that can be formed from some water-based facilities. Current infection sources are eg.:

cooling with cooling towers
Air treatment plant ( "scrub")
showers and swimming facilities(steam showers)
air conditioning with air-wetting
ultralsound moisture (often used in fruit and vegetable disks)

Hope its not from his new trailer..

Think it's new, the link which JFL posted (the English translation) is an article which was written today and talks about Petter competing at Portugal despite being ill :(

Actually he's been ill since Cypros, and the doctor's fear he has gone to long without getting the right treatment(for legionella) and they fair that his lounges may have been damaged.. In adition to the legionella he also has viruses and a heavy cold(according to the press) He is a young and strong man, so hopefully he manages to recover..

He was clearly very unwell before and during Portugal, I think there was even a specialist doctor flown to see him onsite. Very worrying; not least because if he is that sick with Legionaire's with pulmonary complications, he shouldn't be risking his & Phil's lives by competing - regardless of how much of a fighter he is, and doesn't want to let his team down

Ghostwalker

yeah i thought about that why did he drive in Portugal if he was that sick.
i mean his team and sponsors would surely understand if he stayed home from Portugal and possible Argentina if he is sick?

Although we would like to see Petter in Argentina i think the best for him would to rest to make sure he is 100% fit for fight for the rest of the Championship.

It will take a lot for these guys too keep them of the wheel(s). Remember Loix who did better in USR than he had ever done with abroken leg.
Good to hear things are petter with Better though!

The Petter Solberg Team contacted the organizers of Rally Madeira about the conditions of participation....

A IRC car to Petter? Maybe not, because is on the same date as Rally Finand. Who knows?
