this happened at the start of a vintage event at Road America. This what happens when drivers are idiots and don't pay attention. Very costly. go to www.pbase.com/atrltd/bric2005 (http://www.pbase.com/atrltd/bric2005) for more info

There is a good thread on it at the Atlas F1, autosport site, including people who were there.

It was racers, who wanted to race, simple reality.
The most indignant criticism come from those who thing, actually racing at a vintage "race" is not propler.
Then change the name, and do not call it a race.

If you think this is "sick and sad" you live in a very small world.
Cars get wrecked, cars get fixed, life goes on.
Que sera sera.

I remeber when that happened last summer (i think it was then). If i recall correctly one of the guys went to hospital for a broken leg or something... and i remeber the 74 being mentioned, so I think it may have been him.

It makes a classic fan like me wince, but that's the risk you take when you race anything.
I still stand by my belief that there's no point in keeping machinery like that in museums. It's like keeping a racehorse tethered in someone's back garden.

I think this crash took place at Road America. Carl Shafer was involved in it. Does anyone know what happened to him next?
