What I like about Road Course tests is they tend to be a truer indication of who has speed and who doesn't. There's not the draft, they've run these cars in now. Unlike oval testing there's nothing to be gained by not going for speed.
Little surprised to see Mike Conway there though.

No, the Firestone Indy Lights series tested yesterday, not the IndyCar Series. They test today and tomorrow.

Like I said, they are only tests. She will do fine during the season. She always qualifies well and runs good in the races. I have very high hopes for her this year.

take a peek at yesterdays top 10 and tell me which driver wont be there come seasons end?
possibly Miera, Servia, RHR or Moreas jumps up....
but which of the top 10 doesn't finish the season standing in the top 10? which would you put $$$$ on not being there

Much easier to test on a permanent course than on a temporary circuit that is not yet ready.

Umm, because St. Pete is a temporary circuit???
But I have to say that having 10,300 paying customers attending a test day is pretty darn impressive. In the heart of Nascarland while the tintops were running in Bristol. Plus, it looks like a beautiful rolling road course. Did TG really turned this track down when they offered to substitue for Detroit?!

The number came from the IRL press release. From what I saw they were cleverly disguised as trees, shrubs and guard rail posts.
Rumour from another forum has Milka's money not coming through. Note rumour.

"I was very happy to drive on a circuit that I am familiar with, where I can use my experience in setting the car up to my liking and getting to know the team better because it's a whole new adventure for me," said Doornbos, who tested at Sebring two weeks earlier along with the oval Open Test at Homestead-Miami Speedway. "In the morning we only did 10 laps and then the gearbox broke, so we had to wait a couple of hours to get it fixed. We just had to stay focused for the afternoon and make the most of it. We had a good setup and we got the car to my liking and did a quick lap time."

Firestone is offering 2 types of tires to the teams for the road and streets. Red options and regular. They didn't talk about it much in the press articles, but almost every car I saw on track had the red options. That was a very important reason to do the test for these teams, as Barber on its own is not very helpful for setups elsewhere.
