Its about time these in-car spilt times were binned , why on earth are they needed?
Then maybe the competition will return to WRC?

They have tried that remember.
the result was pit board signs and kodes from "spectators"

Yes but it's always harder that way.

I agree on one hand but you do need to remember that this will slow someone like Loeb down, Loeb will still be the fastest driver out there. All this will do will be reduce the amount of jockeying for position that we have and while this is good it's not a solution to the whole problem :(

The problem is that Loeb is too quick, the problem is that everyone else is too slow. :)

I'm in favor of getting rid the split times as well. That would be really good for the sport. And if the teams would use persons in stages showing signs with splits, they should be penalized for that.

Great idea, but completely unenforceable!

It would make relaying that info to the driver much harder, even if it doesn't make it an impossibility.

Why is that? With in-car cameras it is easy to see if pit boards etc. are used and electronic communication is easy to trace...

Banning in-car split times would lead to the teams using pit boards or some other ways to commuinicate to the driver.

You would then have to monitor all comms between the cars and the team, quite expencise and time consimming - especally if the team has already taken advantage of the information.

And I'm quite sure the teams would find other ways to work out if a driver is going faster in a stage than another - speed camera perhaps on the a section and this is then communicated into the car - nothing to do with splits but still giving an indication of how the guy in front (or behind) is doing.

Now that would be a great thing! It would be so easy to get penalties for the opposing team - just send guys with pit boards out to stages and order them to show those to everyone else but your own drivers.

Psycho!

That's true!!Imagine a crowd of people carrying split-boards all over the stage.... :D :D

could blindfold the crews, that would work! :)

Stop timing the drivers. That settle the problem of splits :)

Split times probably not the biggest problem in current championship :-)

No, but it's one of them. And beat the teams that tries to get around the ban with a stick until they learn.

100% correct - if split times are available anywhwere then they'll find a way into the car even if the co-driver has to use the web browser on a smart phone to get them.

But the codriver has to say the times to the driver, so we heard them :D
