Yes I know, but take a look on the stage result that both had before. Bruno Had big troubles in the transmission in the first section of rally!

Madeira

Sousa had some problems with the Punto, and his main goal is to finish the rally after the crashes he had in PWRC..

bluuford
8th May 2009, 20:29
Yeah, Juho sometimes does that. Sometimes he drives many rallies without any crash but once he crashes it happens again and again.. Like in New Zealand two years ago.. I thought that he was pushing hard after the crash.. you know nothing to loose. It would have been better for him if IRC had the FIA rule that you have to have at least 4 wheels on your car on road section ;-)

It has lost three wheels, but not to much damaged. I have seen both Haninen and codriver together with Lasse Lampi. They are both ok, but i am not sure they will start tomorrow. ;)
For the rest very nice day with nice stages and nice fights. Meeke is really going very fast with clean driving lines. I think he can start to control the race, alltough he has to open the road tomorrow. I am also surprised with times of Kopecky, he is doing really good rally sofar. ;)

And it's there! Big congratulation to Kris Meeke for stunning performance. I also would like conratulate Kopecký and Vouilloz for great fight. I didn't expect Kopecký to be so competitive here :)

Good that Alen and Alane are ok. I only hope that marschals won't do some silly things with times. There are some tight fights between another crews...

RS
9th May 2009, 18:51
If Kopecky can go this quick on gravel then they should be ok on tarmac.

Disaster for Abarth. Poor pace (clearly behind Peugeot and Skoda), lack of reliability on Basso's car, and another crash by Alen :(

Worst thing for Alen is that now 2 of the 4 gravel events they are entering this year have gone and now there is a lot of tarmac coming up.

J4MIE
9th May 2009, 18:55
So depending how the final stage results are sorted out, Meeke should lead the championship 2 points ahead of Loix? (presuming Loix finishes 4th)

That is a good idea Jamie, we are just back in appartment after another great day of action. Of course the heavy rain this morning was not so nice, but hey i am not complaining. Great rally and pace by Meeke, alltough he had some lucky escapes also, but that is rallying. Also good pace by Kopecky and i think Vouiiloz was thinking about the points today. Loix did not so bad but as he told me himself with too much up and downs.

I was also with JAM in the press room.

Next year I hope to met the rest of the guys. I apologize for not having found all of you.

I enjoyed the rallye. The problems with the public, delays and the stages canceled were boring but in the end I think the balance was quite good.

The weather was bad on Saturday but many times is like this in the Azores. Long time ago no rain around.

The pictures taken from the heli over Sete Cidades stage impressed even the Azoreans. I was absoluty amazed.

Let´s hope next year we can be again in IRC even with a better rallye.

I think that the whole caravan of the IRC showed his satisfaction about the event except Marc Van Dalen. He made little praises about the organization and he don´t understand why two portuguese rallyes on the calendar. The azorean press did not like so much the tone of his criticism. I think the problem for the Kronos boss is the wrong PUG winning all the events this years so far. :D

Good question!

As all of you saw in San Miguel like in the other Azoreans Islands there are many cows because our economy is almost base on agriculture. The walls of vulcanic rocks are a way to demarcate the land. As for roads in depth is mainly due to the morphology of the island and the need to open ways for the guys that work for agriculture.

Too much tarmac. Does not make much sense to run the stage like this. The first gravel section is what remain of the fabulous "Remedios" stage of the old days. Run at 110 km/hour of average speed and where we distinguished the boys from the mans.

With the confirmation of the Rallye of Portugal in the 2010 WRC the Acores rallye has opened the door to again be part of the IRC calendar in 2010. The organization is already working on this and two weeks from now in the next round of the azorean championship some changes will be tested on some stages in order do reduce the amount of tarmac.

With this some stages like this one no long will be done.

I know it´s a little late but here is our final video of the Sata Rally Acores.
What a great Rally - I really hope that it has more than just IRC supporter status next year
