Just watched what was one of the most boring qualifying sessions you will ever see! The new format was meant to stop team mates helping each other out but instead we still had one long Seat slipsteam train. Makes me laugh when people say the BTCC is inferior when the FIA still cant get the rules right :p

I have to agree, surely the races will be much better. I can see another Seat dominated season, unless Chevy can get the Cruze up to speed quickly.

I have to say that the Chevy team have the best livery on the grid

Lets hope the weights can be sorted later in the season.
Not sure racing diesels against petrols makes much sense.

Big respect to Larini, as Cleland said, he must of had a nose bleed being that high in the standings

Yea great drive by Larini to be in the points in the cars first race, disapointing for Huff that a basic throttle cable snapped :(

A pity for Larini then that he, Monteiro, van Lagen and Tanev have been given 30 second penalties.
Those SEATs are clearly dominant and I do like the Lada livery.

The season will be a SEAT supercup, but at least it is close between their drivers.

If you look at the proposed equilisation method it pretty much can't be dominated by one manufacturer anymore.

Can you help me with the new rules about the weight ballast? Our commentator said that he will explain them when the times come :(

Alfa Fan
8th March 2009, 23:33
Instead of what we saw last season, the weighted added/taken away will be dependent on the differences in average (or best, can't remember) lap time by cars of that manufacter. It all sounds very convulted, but they're aiming to make it not matter what car you've got, they'll all be equal.

from what i saw it was enough to make me think i won't bother tuning in again this year, what a waste of money that series is

Life to too short for this rubbish...

For the first time in 4 seasons I will not be following this travesty of a series and will not waste my money attending the UK round...

Just by looking at the results I can tell that this series is boring. How come the BTCC and STCC can get a mixture of S2000 cars mixed up at the front yet the FIA cannot?

In the first race of the BTCC last year we had 4 different cars in the top 6 without any success ballast.

Because it's the FIA, and when have they proved they can run a Motorsport series?

Well:

WRC - Only 4 strong teams cars and only two of them are capable of winning any rallys.

F1 - Always dominated by Mclaren and Ferrari and the races are too long and boring.

WTCC - SEAT domination and stupid rules mean that it will be that way until Marrakech.

FIA GT - It's OK but the Maseratis just win too often and cars like the DBR9 and Corvette just can't keep up consistently enough to challenge. Similar story in GT2.

yes, the FIA really are useless

I have always said the FIA ruin any good Motorsport with all their stupid rules that seem to change every time you blink. They ruined the DTM back in the 90's when they got involved and it ceased to be after 1 season. Lucky they don't have a say in it now and it's doing great now.

New style DTM is actually of WTCC ahead in apathy score on my list. I'm having trouble thinking of anything that is worse right now. Although I suppose Speedcar and F3 Euroseries is up there with it.

I just hope Seat don't win everything this year. Every race a commentator states, 'Well the Seat has better torque...is better set up for the wet....has more power through the lower gears....can't be beaten in a rolling start etc etc'. Is it me or does their advantage make for less of a spectacle? Seat have been given a break with the Turbo diesel but what about the cars back in the distance? I hope the FIA makes some changes.

PS - The Seat's don't even look the part. The BMWs at least have some sort of presence.

I must start this with a TOG warning:

Is it just me or is the Lada looking for all the world like Tim Harvey's Peugeot 406 from 1996? Would they have had more success running Tim Harvey's Peugeot 406 from 1996?
