The jist:

The cars ran with carburetor restrictor-plates early in the afternoon. The fastest time with plates was clocked by L.W. Miller of Dushore, Pa. Miller circled the half-mile track in 14.742 sec., breaking Ryan Newman's Cup Series track record of 14.908 sec. set in 2003.

In the late hours of the day, the plates came off, resulting in even faster times.

Ted Christopher, 2008 Whelen Modified Tour Champion, jumped at the chance to test his car on the .533 mile track with the engine unrestricted. Christopher turned the fastest lap of the evening, a mind-blowing 14.479 sec.

I'd love to see what those cars would do at Pocono or Daytona.

And to be fair, they're still half a second behind the World of Outlaws track record at Bristol.

Nascar now on ESPN2 had some video of it....They were hauling the mail!!!!!!

But, traditionaly, the MOD's are quicker than the Cup cars at some of the smaller tracks beacuse they can pretty much hold it wide open all the way around. Heck, they drive New Hampshire like the cup guys drive Talladega!

The Mod Squad has even clocked the 100 MPH (161 KM/H) barrier at Martinsville, something the Sprint Cup cars cannot do.

Right, I'm surprised that they didn't break 150 mph at Bristol.

Speaking of NH. Isn't it about time they took a race away from them.

It was a pretty good track before they put that sealer on it.

And I don't care what anyone says, the 2000 race was pretty compeditive.

On dirt/mud, no less. They used to televise that race on the old TNN. Good show.

Hoss...I saw that footage on You Tube and found it just surreal to see Bristol covered in clay and to see the outlaws going THAT fast....
