Wow, from that list and with a theoretical pot of money you would pick a Vauxhall Corsa?? Why not go the whole hog and just choose walking instead?

From that list I think that I'd be tempted by the Lotus Sunbeam, Subaru WRC R30, The Batmobile and McRae's SR3 :D

I'll take the 3.0 liter Cosworth V10 from the Jaguar days.

6000 pound reserve. Hmm, how's that exchange rate these days? :p

Oh yes, where is that in the auction?

There might be a Corsa tucked in the cupboards of one of the motorhomes :p :
It's the sort of thing you'd leave behind when moving out.

There is something very wrong about that Ferrari...

for a start the real Ferrari 156/85 was a 1985 car and not a 1986... then looking at the images of the car for sale the shape is wrong... look at the roll hoop above the drivers head or the rear wing compared to archive images of the real car

something does not quite add up...

As for the rest... I'd be happy with the 3.0CSL

I went to the auction today (the auctioneers share part of the building where I work) but sadly none of the World Rally Cars were on show. I did get to see the Talbot Sunbeam and the Radical owned by Colin McRae though. Hopefully the Škoda and Seat will appear tomorrow.

The auction house were informed of the descrpency in the Ferrari 156/85 and sent back the following replies...

Reply 1:
"Yes I think you may be right, we had it checked out when it was entered and it appears to be a bit of a mish mash. It has been used as a simulator but it does appear to have some genuine Ferrari in it! The condition of the car is reflected in the price. I reckon it will end up being broken up for spares or bought as a show car. A lot of interest from overseas though!"

Reply 2:
"We now have established that the car originally was Tyrrell 014 and was professionally modified to resemble a Ferrari F1 car. The owner has been contacted and the estimate has now gone down from £50k to £30k. The car does look good though! "

:D

I went back to the auction house on Thursday morning. The Škoda had appeared, as had a couple of Subaru rally cars. A Citroën C2 and the SEAT WRC still weren't there though. I don't know if they were sold privately or just couldn't make it for viewing.

I've put some photos on my website here (http://www.powerphoto.co.uk/rally/other/auction/index.html).
