Apparently Citroen's rally team is going to be re-branded as Citroen Racing very soon, and there is also a press conference about Peugot due early next week, where its rumoured it will cease its Le Mans effort. Any suggestions if these two are connected, or should that be how are these two stories connected now that Olivier Quensel heads both competitions depts?
Does it mean Citroen DTM is on the cards again?

Yeah, the best thing what manufacturer can do in times of crisis is spending bilions on changing logo...

Looks nice....

Since I lost faith in a fair tarmac-gravel WRC and all of these 10 gravel rallys are the same (no offense,I am just a tarmac fan) which round is Cyprus?

There's no more c4 WRC pictures in the press release, just the two posted by raskar, the new logos and factory changes and a lot of pictures of the new DS line.

Here you can find the new logo in high resolution.

Peugeot Citroen posts huge 2008 loss
12/02/2009 2:31:02 AM
French auto giant PSA Peugeot Citroen announced a huge loss and said it would reduce its workforce by about 11,000, warning that the European car market could slump by a fifth this year.

The firm posted a net loss of 343 million euros ($A679.34 million) in 2008 - after making a profit of 885 million euros ($A1.75 billion) in 2007 - despite strong sales in the first half of the year before the credit crunch began to bite.

Peugeot will cut its output by 20 per cent over the year, finance director Isabel Marey-Samper told reporters as she presented the earnings report.

The company's shares fell after the worse-than-expected results and Peugeot's warning that it was not expecting things to turn around soon.

"The group expects western European automotive markets to experience a further decline of around 20 per cent in 2009 followed by stability in 2010," group chairman Christian Streiff said in a statement.

"The first half of 2009 is expected to be particularly difficult. 2009 is expected to be loss-making for the group," he added.

Peugeot plans to cut costs by reducing headcount by around 11,000 over the year in its European factories, Marey-Samper said.

PSA Peugeot Citroen employed 207,850 people worldwide in 2007.

While the departures are expected to be on a voluntary basis, they risk exacerbating a burgeoning row over protectionism in Europe, after Peugeot agreed that workers in its homeland would be protected.

On Monday, France's President Nicolas Sarkozy agreed to lend Peugeot and its French rival Renault three billion euros ($A5.94 billion) each in exchange for a promise that they would not lay off French workers or close French plants.

Peugeot notably has large sites in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, and both Prague and the European Commission have warned Paris not to protect its own industry at the expense of that of its EU partners.

Nevertheless, Peugeot has agreed to Sarkozy's bargain, and Streiff said: "France is, of course, our biggest country in terms of employees, but we have lots of staff in other countries which we are currently reducing quickly."

The European Commission has promised to study Sarkozy's deal carefully to ensure that it complies with the European Union's (EU) single market's competition laws, and has not yet given the go ahead for the five-year loan deal.

While regarded in Paris as a national champion, Peugeot produces only about 40 per cent of its vehicles in its five homeland plants, and maintains European sites in Spain, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Italy and Portugal.

Outside the European Union, it also produces cars and vans in Turkey, China, Argentina and Brazil.

Peugeot sales fell by 7.4 per cent last year from the 2007 level to 54.4 billion euros ($A107.74 billion), reflecting a global drop in demand. Operating margin fell to one per cent of sales from three per cent in 2007.

Within minutes of the announcement, Peugeot shares had fallen 4.66 per cent to 13.71 ($A27.15) on the Paris exchange.

"Faced with the prospect of a prolonged recession, our priorities are clear. We must concentrate all our efforts on reducing inventory and minimising our cash consumption," Streiff said.

In order to finance its 2009 operations the firm will need to borrow around four billion euros ($A7.92 billion), he added, noting that the three billion ($A5.94 billion) from the French state would allow it to meet this target.

The French car industry and its suppliers which directly or indirectly employs 2.5 million workers, or around one in ten of the active population, has made protecting Peugeot and Renault a central plank of Sarkozy's recovery plan.

I am glad that I was wrong! I certainly didnt want Peugeot to quit, I had just picked up some rumour that it could be announcing they were quitting. Who knows the economy and the motor manufacturers in general are in a bad way that you almost expect a negative outcome. Once againg I am happy for Peugeot to continue, and beat Audi.

It seems that the 208 T16 has more gremlins than the DS3.

Are there any differences in engineering or other parts of the cars, that can give a logical explanations for the negative stats for the T16?

There is a different design of the air intake system and it must make some kind of difference...

From what I heard the placement of the radiator is also a bit different. With DS3 it's placed a bit higher and it has the sumpguard underneath to protect the bottom of the radiator.
