View Full Version : Suzuki in or out for 2010?

Ive heard rumours they are back in 2010 with a S2000+, and someone said theyve seen images on the net of the new 2010 WRC S2000+ car. Has anyone else?

And is Proton going to Prodrive and joining in for 2010?

What a good plug and play that would be! Show up, give Prodrive the contract and sit back. they already know the stages, rules and regs.

I heard that since Mitsubishi are leaving Dakar, so will VW and start a S2000+ project on Scirocco and that Prodrive will have a role !

With prodrives recent reputatation, i dont think there will be too many queuing at the door.

sorry, but nevertheless the last years have shown, that prodrive is not the best adress for those deals !!!

In order for the manufacturers to make commitment with Prodrive, Prodrive needs to guarantee their non-commitment to Formula One first. I bet no manufacture want to run their WRC program with the company whose interest is at somewhere else.

Proton will be run/developed by MEM Rally Team, not Prodrive (AFAIK).

ISC want the FIA to delay the new rules until 2011, so unlikely to see Suzuki, Proton or VW next year at least if they get their way.

IMHO that is a good idea, it is too late in the day now with still nothing confirmed for next year.

Think Richards has given up on F1 at the moment. Certainly not bidding for Honda.

I wouldn't discount DR's F1 ambitions quite yet. What he has said is that it wouldnt be viable to take on Honda with their current structure and overheads. DR has always stated that F1 operating costs should be around £50M and then he would then be interested.
Also if you look at Prodrive's flagship motorsport in 2009 it LeMans series racing with Aston Martin.
Now if you read the two links posted below quoting Max Mosley and his cost cutting ambitions for F1 it could be the perfect time to enter F1 IN 2010 on the back of serious cost cuts down from a rumoured £230M budget for a Honda type team to something more suitable for Prodrive.

All valid points but I wasn't discounting his long term ambitions, that's why I used the word "moment", although personally I can't see a £50m budget being regulated anytime soon.
