This woman is Nina Mikkonen. She is a wife to certain Timo T.A. Mikkonen. Timo T.A. Mikkonen http://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timo_T.A._Mikkonen is ranked as a major in reserve. He is a perfection in everything he does. He is an ultimate professional in media, a host and a producer. He brought talkshows to Finland. He is a man with strong opinions. One time, he was interviewed in live talkshow called The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, he stood up from his seat and went standing behind the interviewer because he wanted an apologie. When he got a promotion from captain to major, he invited himself in to military refresher course. Timo T.A. Mikkonen has solved who shot John F. Kennedy. And he has a world record in the longest live talkshow 24 hrs.

His wife Nina Mikkonen is ranked as a housewife. In my opinion these two people need each others because there are no-one else on this earth who can stand them. My blood is boiling from that videoclip. Being at home with small children isn’t self-evident in current world. Hands up who have been in daycare when you were kids ?? Did you grow up just to obey the system without any love. ARE YOU NORMAL???

I clicked your link. And it mentioned English subtitles at the top of the screen, but after 5 minutes, none appeared - so I gave up.

Could you give us English speakers some idea of what this is about, or maybe offer a YouTube that does have English subtitles?

If you click the box on the right, next to volume bar which say; captions on/off, subtitles should appear.

And did I mention the lady is a demon?

Well, she surely has a crazy look in her eyes. You don't need subtitles to see that.

Dead serious.

I don't know how things are in US but here in Finland you get to have 9 months of maternity leave. Then, after that you can have nursing leave up to three years but the financial support is much weaker. For this reason mothers put their children to daycare, some even at the age on 1 year.

I aldready see a cultural conflict here as I know in US many mothers are home and dad brings the money to table. Part of the famous family values?

Anyway, it doesn't work here. Families very rarely just can't keep their children at home and the reason is purely financial.

The point however isn't that at all. IMO (and my opinion only) the standard of Finnish daycare is very high. Nina Mikkonen is ranting and raving a blame to all those mothers who "selfisly" choose the career over their children and refuse to see that fact it's many families only option. I see a huge difference with those children who have stayed at home and with those who have been in daycare in my work. And let me say just one fact, those in daycare have way better social skills already than those who have been raised in mom's lap.

I have no idea who these people are...but I can agree in an ideal world you should have a parent at home to look after the kids. That said, Finland and many other nations, mine included have a tax burden and a cost of living burden that pretty much dictate a real difficulty for families keeping one parent at home. Usually this is the woman for traditional and financial reasons but that is immaterial. Daycare is a necessary evil. For anyone to say it is WRONG is a bit out of line. Ideally tho...this wacky woman isn't wrong but she isn't living in the real world either.

As for the US vs any other place, lots of working moms in that country too...

Yes, I know that woman.

Maybe they could trade homes? That would be a cool episode. God's warrior vs housewife with horns and a tail.

Only partly i would say, finnish women wants to keep their independence too, if the woman stays at home she soon would be in a financial trap.

True. If a woman is a housewife for let's say fifteen years and then gets divorced, she'd had to have a job, but who's going to hire her? Only someone who's looking for a housewife.

So you are saying that the children are better off being raised by the state?

No wonder Finland is all messed up.

Why do you persist in being a jackass?

You've not been to Finland, you've probably never seen any programs on Finland or any news stories about it. Your entire experience of Finland is Eki. Yet like the ignorant little troll that you are you seem to think that Finland is some kind of cesspit of something or other based on your impression of someone who is just a troublemaker.

Finland could be heaven on earth if you actually opened your mind up to the idea that it's not a country full of equally as ignorant people like Eki.

Seriously dude..... you wouldn't know Finland if it came up to you, announced that it was Finland and kicked you in the balls.

I've actually been to Finland and it's a darn site better than a lot of other places I've been to and I'd have to say if it weren't for the fact I don't speak Finnish (a big problem for me) I'd really love to live there.

Daycare centers, or kindergartens in Finland aren't run by the state. They're either municipal services or runned by private factor. Both provide very good services but usually private daycare centers have better resources and therefore even better services.

I wonder why you don't act like this on WRC forum but I guess you have your reasons. I wasn't saying children are better off being raised by the state. I was saying that IN MY OPINION it is better for a child to be in daycare center than being raised in home. Again IN MY OPINION I've noticed few things children may face during their childhood if they spend it in homecare. Althought they might have long days at daycare center, they don't spend there 24/7. They're not being brainwashed by the goverment. I have been talking about daycare in general but there are also kindergartens that provides services in different contexts. IMO not all of them are better than daycare in general but they seem to be highly popular.

I guess one of my points is that moms who choose to put their children in daycare aren't IN MY OPINION worse than mothers who have the chance to stay home with their children. Their children aren't any less loved than those who stay home.

What else I was saying in your opinion tony?

Hey! I'm not ignorant. I probably have more education (about 20 years) and life experience (too much to mention) than you. I just like to rattle the cages of people who are ignorant and don't think things further than their own belly buttons.

Funny stuff.
I have more than a few friends from that socialist paradise known as Finland.

In fact there is a thriving Finnish Community here mad up of Ex-pats who have rejected that Frozen Nanny state and embraced the freedom of choice that is appreciated here.

Aside from Rally racers(They are good at that) the only thing that Finland has produced are bad Motorola Cel phone copies.

Anyway...

Nina Mikkonen adds more water to the mill. http://www.yle.fi/java/areena/dispatcher/1802883.asx?bitrate=1 Nothing new to her story, only thing is that she tries to behave a little bit better. Actually, she messes things up by adding that it's ok for margin groups to use daycare but she means childprotection by it. It seems she is so lost with her story even she don't know what she means. Which is very typical when it comes to family Mikkonen.

I wasn't bashing Stan. He's name is only similar to Satan for a dyslexic. I remembered a joke about a biker gang who went to a tattoo parlour and wanted tattoos saying "Satan's Slaves". The tattoo artist was a dyslexic, so when the tattoos were ready they said "Stan's Slaves".

If it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck then it must be a duck unless of course the duck wants to start acting sensibly in which case the duck might get taken seriously :)

If it walks like a duck, sounds like a duck then it's a decoy. A real duck is smart enough to disguise as a swan.
