Never been to this event, but thought i might go this year. Only thing is on the website there are not many entries. I know its six weeks to the rally, but should there be more by now? im unsure how these things normally work!
And what are the best stages to go and see, I like to be on my own (up to a point!) and get some good pics.
Thanks, Alex. :)

Usually well stocked entry list. Dodd is generally hands down fastest. Last year other entries included Burton, Perez, Moore, Lloyd, Petch etc. In short it ain't a poor entry list, usually includes the Evo Challenge too and the odd 6r4 and Escort.

Seem to remember it's a bit pricey but not the most excessive and you can take your pick of stages and generally walk down them with no hassle. In terms of photos I don't have a clue :)

Sunseeker is a fantastic event worth going to :D although might be less people entering the championship with the new control tyre

Perez didn't do it last year ;)

2009 might see two 07 Foci in the hands of Bird and Perez. Well Paul Bird is certaintly trying to get one

ive spectated every year since 1997, gutted as ive moved up to west midlands so im going to miss it. the friday night blast thru the winter gardens, can be good fun, there is commentry, forest rover is £20 i think wareham forest is good, very good vantage points, also uddens water, and if you get to see any of 306cosworth vid, he always finds good spots :}, enjoy your day .

We'll most likely be doing 3 stages. Uddens, Wareham, Ringwood South.

Already 7 WRCs entered, and 4 different manufacturers!

Soo whos going?

I think we are just going to go to Sommerly park and probably ring wood south :)

Rallye Sunseeker, the perfect model of how a National/BRC round should be run. Great publicity, great 'Rally Radio' coverage, big crowds, etc
Looking forward to it, always a fantastic event - probably going to Ringwood North(Mount Ararat).
Only drawback is the huge round trip, but it's only once a year.

This is one of my closest events but I'm really not sure if I'm going. Exeter are playing at home (haven't missed a home game all year, even seen the rubbish cup games and all pre-season) and my car could really do with a clean so I could use the Saturday quite well. But then again this will be one of the few rallies that I can actually get to this year. Hhhhmmmmmm

Come on Jan, you know going to the rally makes sense! :D

Yeah but so does going up City :D And my car is stupidly dirty at the minute. I'll continue deliberating for the rest of the evening.

My car is dirty too thanks to a trip through Crychan last Saturday/Sunday, looks much better dirty though :D

I'll be marshalling tommorow in Ringwood North, come and say hello we'll have a silver 3 series estate with us :-)

For me though the sunseeker isn't the best event, compare the entry to something like the Wyedean and its nowhere near as good, nearly all Gr.N evos.

Also the stages are not as good as e.g. the wyedean and rut up a lot more especially with the double usage.

Cheers

Duncan

With my old car I really wouldn't care, used to park the things in hedges, rag it down lanes etc. But the new care I like to take a bit of care with and it's a bit manky at the minute.

Itl be fine :D

Go to the rally, get it properly dirty then get even more satisfaction (oo er) when you give it a proper clean next week :D

MrJan
27th February 2009, 16:52
If I go rallying then I certainly won't take my car, the old man will drive because my car will cost me a fortune to get to Bournemouth. And I can't clean it next week because I'll be doing college work :(

If I do go to the Sunseeker then I'll spend most of my time after 3 o'clock worrying about the football and the rest of the time worrying about what all that nasty dirt is doing to my car :p :

A decision shall be made soon, but it won't be done lightly.

I would go to the rally Jan. You will be kicking yourself if Exeter lose badly. Looking foward to this now one of the best events of the year always a good atmosphere down in Bournemouth.

Looks like Bird will be in a new Focus after all

MrJan
27th February 2009, 18:45
Despite what everyone has said I'm going to sit this one out and go to the football. My old man has a few things to do and Exeter losing badly isn't an option because we've already lost 6-1 at home once this season and it's unlikely we'll suffer that again :D Anyway I think that I would kick myself more if I didn't go to this one match, especially as I've not missed a home game yet.

It's annoying that I'm going to miss such a good event (and after failing to get to Epynt) but I get to have a lie in, clean my car and then watch my team so I'll still be happy.

Can I just say thanks to the green Escort Mk2, not sure what driver, who gave a great display. Dodd was brilliant as always until his incident - his speed is incredible. Jardine was as good as always, as was Charlie Payne. Thanks all for quick, exciting driving. Hans-Erik deserves a mention as well for nicest guy of the rally. Overall a great day, ending badly for one spectator who I wish all the best.

Here are some low quality pics from me and my 5 year old, poor digital camera:

:D Nice pics, I didnt take any on this one as I decided to actually watch it all with out looking down the lense of a camera.

Was a good rally, though the retirements of Bird, Perez and Dod spoilt the afternoon really. We watched both runs through Sommerly park and had a great spot in the afternoon, watching from a hairpin left after a long straight. Its probably the fastest ive seen a rally car go on gravel and looked so good when they were heavy on the brakes! One driver in a mk1 escort braked waaaaay too late for the hairpin and just about about avoided ploughing straight into a brick wall, I rekon there was a bit of a smell in that car after that!

Plus a decent game at the football and a 2-0 win means that I'm actually not too upset that I missed the rally.

It was dirty, just it doesn't show photos. Also it was a sort of pre-emptive thing as I'm travelling from Exeter to Sidmouth every day and it would have been nasty by next week :p : TBH the main thing is getting a new front numberplate as well as shining up the exhaust and bending the rear grill up to show it off :D

It seems that I'm turning into a bit of a chav since I got this car ;)

Edit: Oh and nice videos, I'm surprised that they let you stand there though. I've been in far safer places on the sunseeker and got moved on. Mostly used to happen when they used to run Avon Park/St Leonards (that was an epic stage)

Well you know you can watch youtube vids through other sites there was one site which showed my address and stuff which should be kept private by youtube.

Sorry. Cocked that up. havn`t seen much on the IRC thread on Kris/Pauls great win in Brazil. Excellent result- he could be in the box seat come 2010! Arn`t all you Brits going to give him a cheer? The debate surrounding IRC/WRC-S2000 & 2010 is a hot topic at the mo, so could this be the start of the British revival we are all looking for? Keep the shoe in Kris! Sarnau
