The Norwegian Subaru importer has started a new cup for 09. They are using a normal 2008 onwards Impreza STI. It is a simplified Gr N tech spec on them to keep the price down.

The series will consist of 7 rallies and 4 races on racetrack I guess to train the Norwegians also on Asphalt...
Very interesting combination, with rally and corcuit in the same series !!

Tech spec

- Gearbox and diffs are standard. Fron and back diff to be sealed to avoid changes.
- Min weights Rally 1385, race 1365 kg
- Suspension: Proflex
- Tyres: Pirelli (limited number)
- Price for car and kit aprox 300 000 NOK, and you have to finalize the build yourself, so final price is said to be aprox 400 000 NOK rady to race.

20 cars sold !!!

They had their first rally in Rally Sigdal, and Andreas Mikkelsen, that became a late entry the cup due to the finacial climate, won.

Times was not far off a full spec Gr N car, that are impressive right out of the box.

A great initiative Subaru Norway !

Maybe an idea for more countries ?

And what does the cup champion wins exactly from Subaru for the following season ???

Edit: in France and Italy this year there will be Subaru Diesel Boxer cup... ;)
In France the winner will drive an N14 onthe entire 2010 french tarmac championship...

Prize money amounts to a total of appr. Euro 90.000.-. A consistent winner - also winning the championship overall - should be able to rake in about 30% of that. This amounts to more than the running costs of the car for a full season.

The Adapta WRC team is well connected to the norwegian Subaru importer, and I think that it may well be that the overall winner of the cup will be invited to test one of their cars.

Agree, rally is not circuit and cars should be loud for spectator's safety.
