Guys, do you know anything about the situation in Italian Rally championship? Apparently top Italian teams (including official ones) are going to boycott the first two events in 2009 as a protest against too many rounds in the calendar and thus increasing costs. Is that true?

Yes it's true. Official teams asked for an 8 rounds championship (4 gravel, 4 tarmac) but the 2009 CIR calendar includes 10 events (4 gravel, 6 tarmac).
From 2009 wont be compulsory registration to take points in CIR, only rule is to enter last 2 events of the season (they are on tarmac). So if official teams wants to cut 2 tarmac races only solution is don't take part to first 2 rallies: Ciocco and Mille Miglia.
I hope the teams will change their decision and italian federation will do something in their favour.

Pitty but this is true. Same situation in Lithuania.

Interesting:where federations are doing clever decisions?
