One maker leaves F1, and they change the rules in a week.

How come rallying has been trying to change the rules for god knows how many years with no progress.

What is the point of the FIA being the overseer of the wrc, if they don't care?

Maybe the FIA do care afterall, it seems to have been the teams holding up progress on the new WRCar rules.

Anyhow, there should be an announcement on Friday...

Autosport today reports the teams have finally come up with a package for 'S2000T' for about £25,000 which includes a turbo, an assisted gearshift mechanism, a rear wing and "a few other parts"

Should be confirmed Friday.

Good news.

Now they just need to get the promotion and the calendar right and the WRC could be on the road to recovery, providing the economic situation improves.

What is 'assisted gear mechanism' and 'a few other parts'? £25,000 sounds reasonable though.

Make that £125,000 in practice because the FIA don't control costs

Here’s a formula for calculating the correct costs.

S1600:
Originally 100.000 dollars / euros (when the currencies where more close to each other)
Reality. 180.000 – 190.000 euros (correct me if I’m wrong) -> 80%-90% more than planned.

S2000:
Originally 150.000 dollars / euros (when the currencies where more close to each other)
Reality. ~ 250.000 euros (correct me if I’m wrong) -> 67% more than planned.

So, multiply 25.000 £ by 1,7-1,9 to get the correct cost.
