Correct me if I am wrong but didn't the Chevrolet Lacetti's that Tempus sport are going to be running next year need a whole bunch of rules breaks in order to be competitive in WTCC? If this is the case is there any guarantee that they will get the same rules breaks in BTCC next year? I know that Alan Gow has stated before that just because both championships are running S2000 rules doesn't mean that the british series has to follow the WTCC lead in dishing out rules breaks for individual teams/cars. Just wondering as I'm guessing that this could make a big difference as to how competitive the chevrolet(s) can be.

The Robertshaw Lacetti's last year were on the brink of the top10 and they were old 2006 spec cars. Are Tempus not using the 2008 spec? If so they should be more competitive.

A new team, Tempus Sport, has announced it will join the HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship grid in 2009, running a pair of latest-spec Chevrolet Lacettis – one to be driven by Harry Vaulkhard.

I'm sure the cars run by Robertshaw were 2006-spec

Vaulkhard's 2006-spec Lacettis as ued in 2008 have been for sale since the summer! They have every intention of racing 2008 spec machines.

I think Alan Gow made statement on this issue when Robertshaw ran the Chevies this year. Can't find the link though.

Im sure Mr Gow can always find a way to make these cars fit on the grid. Nobody complained about the Robertshaw versions so im sure itl be fine with these :)

Are the BTC spec cars getting another weight break for this year?

I believe so, 25kgs?

Quick question, why does it matter if its 06 or 08 spec?
Is it just down to the fact that they are newer or will there be tweaks and upgrades?

Well the 08 cars will have all the latest developments, but there's no reason why the 06 cars cant be upgraded to the 08 spec

Engine and aero upgrades can be easily bought (with money), but chassis upgrades or redesigns which could lead to different weight distribution is the challenge. As well, I've read older cars experience wear/tear on the chassis which weaken it? But that's why older cars are supposedly cheaper than new ones! :D

I'm pretty sure that the later cars have very different suspension pick up points & mounts when compared to the first year cars.... many concessions on the daywoo to get it as competitive as it is now

Those MGs must be a bit wobbly then.....
