Kevin Harvick faces a heavy fine of $25,000 from NASCAR in light of what happened at the Prizegiving Banquet after he used an obscenity on stage.

1. Jr smells
2. Hendrick smells
3. Boo, I didn't win
4. With my name was Jimmie
5. My car is better than your car
6. I have eaten better at Waffle House
7. Why won't you all bow to me, I command it
8. I can't think of any more
9. So I will stop now
10. Fine me all you like, I have seen Stan's earnings list

He repeated the comedian's line about skiing on Mount S*nofab*tch. Much ado about nothing unless you're a Puritan.

Didn't quite get it, I guess they trimed the comedian's act, probably nothing will happen. Besides that word isn't one of the FCC's seven no-no word list.

If you didn't watch the banquet you wouldn't "get it" because it was part of the comedian's act. It was a laugh-out-loud funny segment.

The FCC? Our FCC? If that agency wasn't so corrupt it would be laugh-out-loud funny too. Anyway the banquet was on a cable network. The courts have already reversed an FCC ruling against a cable network for so-called "obscenity".

They had it, obscenity and all, on NASCAR.com over the weekend. But agreed, it was not that offensive and certainly not worthy of a fine. I've heard worse things said in a church. I don't like Harvick, but I appreciate that he's not a fake kiss-ass like most others on that Chase stage.

I saw the reshowing on ESPN2 on Monday. It was 2 1/2 hours long and I got the feeling it had been trimed a bit. I heard comedian's act but maybe I missed that joke.

Ah! That would explain it. They probably cut out some stuff for the rebroadcast. Too bad though. He was hysterical.

You will have to excuse an ignorant Brit here (again) and if this is really offensive, please edit it - but are you saying Harvick used the expression "son of a bitch"?
In the UK, that is a laughable phrase with little meaning.
However, you guys seem to be able to say "pissed" and "pissed off" quite happily on TV, while here that would bring governments down.
If I am right with this, exactly what part of the expression is regarded as nasty. "Son of a" - surely not. Which means the word "bitch" is frowned upon. This, as you all know, is the correct term for a female dog. Perhaps it's the combination of the two that causes the offence. OR, I am completely missing the whole point here, and there was more said that has not been published here. Which would piss me off.

That phrase is not actually considered "obscene". It's not one of the phrases or words banned by the Federal Communications Commission. However, it is not something that is considered proper in "polite" company.

It has more to do with the way it's been used as an invective over the years than the actual definition of the words.

Yep, I can understand that. So it is just that phrase then. I assume the b-word then takes on the meaning of a female who is not a nice person at all. Language is such fun. Polite conversation piece? No, realise that, but come on, it is weird you have so much trouble with that, yet happy with pissed.

Language is a funny thing when you add in the colloquialisms that occur in other geographic areas. My wife and I have friends in Northern England that we visit nearly every year, and we find that we truly are two peoples divided by a language.

How the FCC feels about it is irrelevent as the event was only televised on cable.
