Since Fiat has put Abarth back on the rally map, why do not Renault do the same with their famous Alpine name.

Concept is pretty much the same, a small firm making the performance cars, and put on their brand.

If S2000 will be the future WRC, maybe we see a Alpine Clio S2000.
Would be nice, don't you think ?

Yeah, would be awesome. There was some news about the Alpine brand that would return on autoblog:

Two car team of Kris Princen and Cedric Robert+one extra car for every round for the driver who is voted the most impressive that period or something like that (since there are so many international Clio R3 drivers)

That Twingo is very sure to happen, maybe even next year (so is the Fabia R2) :)

I hate the rear part of this Twingo though...

And knowing Renault Sport is should be great

So the Alpine brand will come back to racing: LE MANS: Renault Confirms LM24 Return With Alpine (http://auto-racing.speedtv.com/article/le-mans-renault-confirms-lm24-return-with-alpine/)

Maybe Gordini will do comback in Rally then?

Alpine would've been great for a WRC return - sadly for them and WRC, they're a Sportscar Manufacturer, no place for them in the WRC - were the hot hatch/ shopping trolleys prevail.

The A110 was a fantastic car, and an Escort beater......

Will we see an Alpine rally car in Monte 2019?
Hope so!

Alpine has rally history in its corner, so does Porsche.

would be nice to see them both in MC against the 124s in 2019!

The more the better! I still think R-GT needs a rethink. However, I'd scrap it altogether, and allow GT3/4 cars in.

https://www.leblogauto.com/2019/05/lalpine-a110-de-retour-rallye-signatech.html

The Alpine A110 returns to rally. On the base developed by Signatech for the A110 Cup, the berlinette will return to its first love: winding asphalt and mountain laces. It was an expected announcement but was slow to materialize. It's now official. For the moment, the car has not been unveiled and will not be officially announced until September. But, based on the A110 Cup (https://www.leblogauto.com/2017/10/voici-lalpine-a110-cup.html) , we can already imagine that it will not be too different from the latter. She should be engaged in the R-GT category. The car should be developed by several drivers. Some names like Manu Guigou recent winner of Corsica RC3 at the wheel of a Renault Clio R3T operated by Team CHL Sport Auto. As a reminder, he won 13 of 14 scratches in the category, co-driven by Alexandre Coria that we know well (https://www.leblogauto.com/2019/05/rallye-dubert-coria-milano-racing-ambassadeurs-de-nouvelle-categorie-r4.html) .Also, Alpine specifies that the car will be developed mainly for asphalt. But who knows if volunteers will not want to test it on earth too? In any case it is a return that many did not expect anymore and that we will follow with attention

Any volunteers for gravel testing? :D

Are they definitely running to FIA R-GT regs? Seems incredible if so. The R5/Rally2 manufacturers will be talking to the FIA...

Sulland

I hope they are according to RGT regs, if so they will sell many more cars, showing this kind of speed!

I think I read somewhere that the RGT restrictors had been adjusted down, or do I remember wrong?

Looking forward to seing this car sliding on gravel or snow in MC. On the loose it will be more internal RGT competition, but drivers will love playing with it! The car looks smashing, and will have opened the eyes of many potential curtomers!

Alpine will have collected tons of data in this rally, to further fine-tune it.

Would love to see Mr Loeb in one of these in the next french tarmac round!

I ask myself the same question. Are they competing in the same category like Abarth 124? Alpines seem much faster! Guigou finished Rallye Mont Blanc Morzine in the 3rd position and Pellier was 6th! They were much faster than most R5 cars. Abarth was never so quick.

I don't know if and how it can affect Alpine A110 R-GT programme, but I have just read that in 2021 Renault's Formula 1 team will be renamed to Alpine F1 Team:

Probably only a good thing, hadn't there been a question mark over the future of the Alpine brand? Should raise the profile of Alpine and the RGT program will be small change by comparison. Also, Renault are already funding both programs this year.

Yep, it seems the A110 is actually homologated under FIA RGT rules. Alpine purpose was always to build a GT rally car able to run in any championship. Besides, FFSA RGT regulation is copy paste from FIA’s Art.256 (apart a small detail regarding Led lamp pods); definitely different from the local GT+ (more liberal) or GT (sort of N/GT) categories.

Actually that’s good news, once the Alpine brand was rumored to vanish once more, before the new CEO (Luca de Meo, ex-SEAT) arrival. Apparently De Meo plan is to make Alpine a larger sport brand inside the group, launching new models and taking Renault motorsport activities. Fingers crossed!

Overall victory for Guigou in Rally Nova Gorica, round of the Slovenian championship. It was also the 4th round of the RGT Cup:

Quite a big shame for our championship, it is a reflection of a quality of our drivers with Rally 2 cars (and foregin second level drivers with Rally 2). If Rok Turk has difficulties (and Avbelj is not present), nobody is capable to hold on a driver with a RWD cup car, which was not even designed for overall victories.
Anyway- congrats to Guigou!

Have I missed something? I've just followed an old https://media.renaultsport.com link which got redirected to Alpine Racing site, meanwhile https://renaultsport.com goes to generic Renault worldwide.

How can there be talk of a Rally3?

No speak of rally, just racing.

Maybe Gordini will take over the Rally cars?
