Rallye Maspalomas 2008

Flying out later this week to Gran Canaria for some late winter sun and it just happens to coincide with the last round of the Canary Islands championship!

Entry list is published tommorrow but the press releases talk of what should be a very good entry despite some rumoured crews from Portugal and Spain not being able to make the trip due to money problems. We should see Champion elect Viera in his Focus WRC, Toni Ponce in his last outing in a Fabia WRC. JM Ponce in his M3 and Santi Concepción in a Porsche GT3 amongst others.

Just back from my holiday and had a great time watching the event on Saturday. Entry wasn't as good as previous years but S.C and the Porsche GT3 was a spectacle in itself! Passed Ponce and his Fabia WRC parked up at the side of the road before stage 1 but he continued as course car later on and his brother rang the kneck of the M3 so made for some great viewing. Great stages in hills above Melonares and really well run event to watch.
