Looks so much better than the old one IMO. Hopefully it wont need so many rule breaks like the old one and prove even more competitive for Huffy :D

That Chevrolet does look pretty good much better than the old Daewoo Lacetti.

That is nice. Is it a Saloon or hatch?
Would be a nice addition to the BTCC....

Except that it is the new Daewoo Lacetti:

The folk at Chevrolet have decided that sensible engineering for the Saturn Astra is too expensive for the Chevrolet badge, so instead of a German engineered car, they'll get a Korean one instead.

Worse, it's to built along side the current Cobalt which was based on the previous Astra (which won several BTCC Championships) before the Cobalt gets phased out.

Maybe it's true that you can't polish a turd, but Chevrolet are trying to rebrand one.

To be fair, thats not bad for a Daewoo. Although I thought they had gone bust?

And apart from the grille, it looks very european.

Just as SEAT could be about to do?

Probably one of the reasons why SEATSport UK pulled the plug!

I think it's a cross between a BMW 3 series and a Honda Accord. I like it to be honest and does look good in racing trim.

As strange as this sounds, I suspect that this is an interim car before Astra I/D replaces both this and the current Astra in 2010 - that car will make its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Perhaps that Astra is lurking in this car somewhere? Both use the same drivetrain and both sit atop the Delta II platform.

To base a Seat on an "old" Audi platform is not something to be ashamed off? You're getting (old) premium engineering/design at economy pricing.

In this tough global economy, building an all new car is prohibitively expensive so "recycling" designs saves a lot of money.

Since the body is so closely related, why not just use the old A4 racecar, change the badge and race it until the new racecars are ready.

In this tough global economy, I don't see how using a single car and selling it around the world is more expensive than designing/using 2 separate car platforms? It's no wonder GM/Ford/Chrysler are in trouble. As well, it makes it more expensive if GM wants to build and race 2 separate racecars? Could the Astra return as a racer or just the Lacetti I guess?

On a side note, is the Astra larger/smaller than the Lacetti?

Generally its no smaller, but the Lacetti usually has a boot rather than a hatch
