I seem to be having a few of my posts erased for some reason and am unsure why.

I don't mind getting an infringement if I'm doing something wrong but if I'm not, perhaps someone could explain why?

Knockie, if we should explain each post we delete, we would spend half day doing that, sorry but we're not that stupid :p :

If your posts are more slagging off the other members than discussing the actual topic, you bet it's going to be erased. Mind you, I've started deleting post even with substance in them if I see enough negative personal comments in them. I won't bother editing them anymore .

Really?

Why not just apply forum rules and use infringements if I'm being personal unless you consider asking other members to consider not using personal remarks as a personal insult

Really Jan, you do make me smile :)

The level of censorship on this forum is increasing it seems and it's not welcome. Yeah, yeah, I know. If I don't like it I know where to go but from some of your personal and insulting responses, I guess that I'm not on the right side of "one rule for one and a different for another".

When a Mod seems to be less objective than a FIA steward, it really is a fruitless exercise.

Glad it amuses you.

Isn't it about time you started doing your job correctly rather than getting personal. If not, then I suggest being a Mod may not be for you.

I've been here quite a time now and have never criticised the Mods even when I disagree with them. In fact, the moderating on this forum from the likes of Mark, Andi, Pino, Arrows etc has always been of the highest standard. One I don't believe you are currently living up to.

I wont stoop to your level and accuse you of not acting like a decent human being, but I do think you have a bit of a chip on your shoulder.

As you say, perhaps you should take a look in the mirror.

Wasn't it you who accused daniel of acting like a moderator while ago when he did the same? ;)

Who do you think is on the "right side" if you feel you're on the wrong side of the "one rule for one and a different for another"

I'd really like to know so I can better judge where you're coming from.

Believe me, I take accusations of being impartial very seriously, in fact I find it very offending.
You might say i'm being heavy handed at times, but trust me, i don't moderate your posts on basis of who you are, it's because what you post.

And that goes same to everyone.

Making mental reminder :mark:

I'd take those words with a pinch of salt Fred :)

I've come up for a lot more editing than most and I've been banned more than most and I've seen a lot of the stuff that's posted and 99% of the time I agree 100% with it. Occasionaly the mods get it wrong but don't we all?

The mods are volunteers on here and have other jobs to be doing so explaining why person x's post got edited or deleted isn't top of the priority list.

Knockie, you're wrong and unfair towards janneppi. He was my choice to replace ArrowsFA1, and I am still very happy for that choice, because janneppi is a cool guy, and a good Moderator too. You're free to disagree but at the end of the day, He's the Moderator and he decides what's right, and what's wrong and you must accept it. I read most of the delete posts/threads in here and I can assure you 100% that there are all justified so, stop thinking you are personal persecuted, and enjoy the forum, somenthing you really can do when you want to ;)

Jobs for the boys then?

I got 2 posts on the Nascar forum deleted. There was no porn, animals, nudity, swearing, bad manners or anything in them. They were both asking how many wins at Dale Jnr had in the last 99 races.. and that was it. There was nothing and i mean nothing wrong with those 2 posts

So meeting someone and thinking they're trustworthy shouldn't be a consideration when choosing a moderator?

As for the second part of your post I'm not sure why that would happen. Might I suggest that EVERYONE is against you? : paranoid: :p

Sorry but this forum isn't a democracy. I decide who moderates and who doesn't, and yes, that mostly means people that I know and trust.

I don't know about the other moderators but I hate to delete posts.
That being said, it just takes too much time to edit all the posts that need it.
It is much easier to just delete the post rather than to take the time to edit it.
But then you have to listen to the poster complain, it is just a no-win deal. :s

I will chip in. I have never had a problem with a Moderator doing anything with my posts. I had a couple I was warned about and I understood why even though I was ticked at the person I was arguing with at the time ( not the Moddy)

However, I think there is some validity in the stance that there is a lack of variety and activity in the posts on some of the forums. I was away for a year from this forum and I have noticed that the traffic is WAY down on the NASCAR board and the Indy Car board, the two I spent a lot of time on have had a decline in the number of posters and numbers of topics. I have seen more evidence of moderators I think and it isn't something obvious, and as I said I am not sure it maybe not justified but I do think we need to loosen the boundries just a tad of what is acceptable. A forum where no one feels safe to let loose with an opinion is boring, but protection from the truly offensive is also important.

I don't know if there is a perfect solution, but I do think the effects of moderators has had a bit of a "chill" on the numbers of posts....

I think the problem with the forum is the fact that the forum has lost members and rather valued ones at that and there simply aren't that many new people coming in to replace the people who are leaving :(

I remember when I first started posting on the forums there were a lot more people from the UK posting because the BTCC was in better health and there was a whole social scene where people met up and actually knew each other. Now people meeting up is comparitively rare and it seems to be mainly people in the WRC forum that meet up but they don't tend to come to Chit Chat as much.

I actually think the forums are moderated better than ever. The F1 forum used to be completely intolerable despite the best efforts of Pino and Arrows, at least now with less people the workload is more manageable for Pino and Janneppi.

I find it hilarious that Janneppi seems to get singled out by people :mark: I met Janneppi in 2007 at Rally Finland and was not at all surprised when he was made moderator shortly after as he is EXACTLY the sort of person that should be a moderator on the forum. There are certainly 1 or 2 moderators who I feel like to make things a bit personal and single out people because they don't like them, but Janneppi is not that sort of guy at all.

Daniel, I will defer to your wisdom on this, since I don't have the history some of you do have. I never noticed the moddy's when I was on here a year and a half ago but I notice them now. That said, I have always understood why they do what they do often and have never had issue with anyone who is on the job. Starter, the one I know best seems like a very great guy but he is one to often err on the side of caution when he shuts down threads or tries to keep things moving and I do wish at times he was a slight bit more indulgent with us and let us work out some of our issues.
