Hi,

It was discussed since several months already, that Peugeot-Sport will replace the current 206 Rally Cup in 2009 by the newly developped 207 R3T, and from today it's official !!!! :D

Press-release in english:
http://peugeot-media.com/IMG/pdf/PK_207RCRALLYE_GB.pdf

In the same time the 207 will be available to customers who want to run with it in the same spirit as Renault with the Clio R3 and Honda with the Civic TypeR... ;)

Looks exciting and I hope several foreign drivers will run the french cup in 2009 like the previous years...

Not to miss Stéphane Sarrazin driving the 207 next week at the Critérium des Cévennes as "00" car ;)

I am only concerned about engine power...180HP is way to weak compared with new kit for clio R3 (stronger engine) or civic R3 (about 240HP)...but it can be great car to compete with new weaker clio R3 Access (205HP engine + sequential gearbox, "group N" suspension) or C2 R2 (Max).

Mirek
30th October 2008, 23:34
I think that 180 Hp is only basic version for 207 Cup. I heard about some 260 Hp possible from this engine under R3T regulations. Of course much more expensive than 20 tousand Euro. I asume a price of 90-100 tousand for full R3T version in the future.

Great if Peugeot Poland is also thinking about a 207 Cup for next year :bounce:

Interesting data !!! At the rallye du Var, Stéphane Sarrazin said he would have finished 12th overall in his "00" 207 RC if his times had been officially registered !!!! Not bad :D :D

Especially when you see the winner of 206 Cup(Franck Véricel)finishing 26th overall... ;)

After France and Spain, Peugeot-Sport Italy officialized today its 207 RC rally Cup for 2009(tarmac events only)at the Bologna Motorshow :)

I hope more european countries will organize their 207 rally cup again :D

Why not Poland or Norway where there's already a 206 cup this year, for example... ;)

What's really great idea is that all 207 RCs from all countries having their cup will be technically identical(including FIA homologation rules)meaning that for example an italian driver will be able to buy a car in Spain or France to run his home cup... :D

Weird !!!! It looks like Peugeot-Sport Norway will keep on the 206 in the Supercup for 2009 :s

What a confusion !!! It should be an S2000 in fact

Peugeot-Sport won't deliver 207 RC in France before end february(don't know the date for other countries...probably before, the Foreigners being often priority)

According to this month "Rallyes Magazine" Peugeot-Sport would have sold until today 27 kits of 207, including only 7 outside of France !!!! :mark:

I would have expected more foreign drivers/teams to buy the 207 RC(especially with Italy and Spain having their own cup with that car this year)... :s

Rok Turk announced his 2009 plan.

He will start the season in the old 206 R3 and then he plans to debut the new 207 R3 for Rally Saturnus. He will also do some Croatian rally's ;)

Tom206wrc
5th March 2009, 08:10
2008 206 Cup winner Denis Millet will drive a 207 RC on next Rallye des Vins de Champagne(18-21st march)in order of developpment program of the car before the season starts(1st round of Volant 207 RC is Lyon-Charbonnière 18th-20th april) :)

Tom206wrc
25th March 2009, 15:50
Finally there should be about 20 cars for the first round of the french Volant 207 at the Rallye Lyon-Charbonnières...not that bad regarding the cost of the car for the season(more expensive than the former 206 but that's quite obvious)and the crisis situation in France(and elsewhere) :)

Among the "big names" there should be some drivers who already ran the cup in 2008 like Franck Véricel, Swiss Laurent Reuche, Jean-Michel Raoux, Germain Bonnefis,...some others who come back in that one-model competition like Arnaud Augoyard(2008 trophée BFGoodrich winner with a rented 306 Maxi), Pierre Marché(2007 Suzuki Swift Cup winner), Frédéric Comte,...and some drivers completely new...

An interesting rallye Lyon-Chabonnières/Volant 207 should happen ;)

Edit: and in Italy until now nine drivers are registered on entrylist of Trofeo 207 Rally...

Unfortunately he retired with broken gearbox on SS5 ;(
Until his problem he drove too carefully, as the Epernay Vins de Champagne was a very tricky and slippery event(he was someting like 34th overall)...

This coming week-end Denis Millet will have another chance to run the 207 RC at the Rallye Pays du Gier... :)

For Italy:

For France, you have the pre-entrylist of the 2009 Rallye Lyon-Charbonnières(until today 11 drivers of the Volant 207 have been registered, but it's not over yet)...

Very, very good start from the french Volant 207 this week-end after this 2009 edition of rallye Lyon-Charbonnières !!! :)

Black point though: big crashes from two of the drivers, first Damien Daumas who was virtually on the podium of the Volant before the accident, and then Arnaud Augoyard who was attacking with slick tyres on the wet... :( :(

Both drivers and their codrivers were injured and immediatly carried to hospital but fortuneately no danger for their lives...good luck and quick recovery to them !!!

All in all, ex-2007 Suzuki cup winner Pierre Marché won the Volant 207 at Lyon, and dominated the other participants(he finished 15th overall, 2nd of R3class) ;)

Tarmac specialist Franck Véricel didn't manage to really threat Pierre and finished 2nd in the Volant(+33s) whereas Frédéric Comte, ex- 2005/2006 Peugeot cup participant took 3rd position for his return...

Now I wait for the first round of italian Trofeo 207 at Targa Florio the 6th/8th may :D

Looks like only one broken finger for Arnaud Augoyard and nothing for his codriver ;)

But for Damien Daumas and his codriver a little bit more serious, something at their back and legs :mark: but they should recover even if it'll take longer ;)

urabus-denoS2000
22nd April 2009, 16:44
No,he will drive a 206 R3 as it seems now for the rest of the season (Not sure though)

It's a shame because it seems there is going to be a huge 2wd battle in Saturnus with Šlehofer (Punto S1600),Vlček (206 S1600) and Pondeliček (C2 R2) from Czech republic against Humar (C2 R2),Turk (2O6 R3) and Petrič (C2 R2) from Slovenia ;)

Mirek
22nd April 2009, 17:16
I don't think that any of Czech guys with 2WD will be able to fight with Humar or Turk ;)

urabus-denoS2000
22nd April 2009, 17:38
Šlehofer is fast and has a better car then Humar so maybe....just maybe he could... :D

But I agree with you, very hard to beat Humar ;)

Next round of the french Volant 207 this week-end in Corsica(15 crews entered, among them three corsicans who aim victory)... ;)

Battle for the lead should be between: Marché, Audirac, Quinsac, Bonnefis, Mattei, Andreucci,...

Results will be on http://corserallyes.com/2009/PilaCanale/INDEX.HTM

Battle of season is quite open since Marché won at Lyon-Charbo and crashed at Limousin while leading(in same time Audirac, codriven by his girlfriend, was absent in Lyon and won in Limousin)... :)

Bad luck for Pierre Marché(puncture + mechanical problem forcing him to retire when he was 2nd overall)and Germain Bonnefis(also fighting for second but puncture made him finished 5th)... :(
Also mixed feeling for other local driver Pierre-Antoine Santini with good performance and many time lost on several stages(finished 10th) :mark:

Tom, we call it "Troféu", trofeo it's on the other side of the frontier (Spain)! ;)

And yes, it was reported on that site but there's still some doubts, mostly because Peugeot Portugal sport budget it's directed to Bruno participation on IRC.

But it would be great to our championship, we still remember how competitive were the precedent 206 series!
