Rickard Rydell has been stripped of the third place finish he secured in the opening race of the World Touring Car Championship weekend at Monza.

Rydell had taken the final spot on the podium behind team-mates Yvan Muller and Gabriele Tarquini but was found to have gained an advantage from cutting the first chicane on the final lap of the race.

As a result of a penalty handed down by race officials, the Swede plummets down the order and instead will be classified in 17th.
