100% sure swiss champion Grégoire Hotz will be there in a 207 S2000(from Italy)...he already run 5 events with that car and won 4 of them overall(+ a swiss win) :)

Perhaps 2nd swiss driver Antonio Galli will drive one too(he already used one at the Rally Valli Varaita last week-end and had a good result, finishing 2nd swiss behind Hotz, 6th overall)

Antonio Galli, drove a C2S 1600 last year if I'm not wrong???
Hotz, Burri, Galli....
I thought that Ojeda would also take the start in Martigny???
Butor was there also in 2007 with the Swift S1600...this year???
Normally we have the Belgian Béco & Radoux there also....and Casier of course with the Polo S2000 (and maybe the other Belgian with the Polo: Auqier)

wwbroe

]Who knows. If there is still a chance for Basso after Valais... ;)

Yes Mirek, it is still possible for Basso, but i think it will be difficult for him. H e needs a win in Valais and has to go to China for another win. Maybe that one won't be so hard to win because off lack of competition, but i don't think the win in Valais will be so obvious. Both Voullioz and Loix(with a not so good car) were allready very fast in Martigny last year, so i think they will be the men to beat. Basso wasn't there last year so he doesn't know the stages like the others do. But let's hope that we will see a great battle over there, i will be there to enjoy it. :D

Tom206wrc

Yes, that is also true, we will see if Hotz will be able to match the speed of the frontrunners, but i have my doubts. It was same thing with Burri, who, was still far behind. But hey, we will see, the more competition, the more i like it. ;)

Burri had a Group N Subaru and was really outstanding all other Group N competitors last year. Give Burri a S2000 and he is a candidate for the podium there. I think Hotz is the only Swiss driver who can fight for a podium place.

A long stage really separates well !!

Now lets see Bassos time !!

Nr 2 Basso: slow puncture

Nr 7 Scandola: spun at around km 15

Nr 18 Lavio: retired - transmission

But Scandola isn't blocking stage, because Loix, Vouilloz, and Bouffier have their times(and were going after him)

It more looks like something would have happened to Rossetti(going after Bouffier) :mark:

By the way it looks like SS6 is cancelled too(read in italian Rallylink forum)

I believe that Alen will started to walk more slowly , Basso climb on place at least .

But the real problem is the Peugeot Poker in front of Rally ( Nico , Loix , Luca and Bouffier ).

In normal conditions , Basso can take a 5th overall in the end of rally.

It wouldn't have been that were it not for the bad luck of Abarth here. We could all see in Sanremo and Asturias that the cars are fairly close, at least Basso anyway.

Amazing job from EuroSport !

I think only they should allocate more time for pilots.

For example , at half of the special images of helicopters , On-Board Cams for a while during a middle-end of the stage ... and at the end cameras around the stage.

A mosaic when things are more balanced in front of the rally to follow the Stages of 2 or 3 pilots fighting for first place.

Awesome stage live on tv!

I think could improve the live transmission like this:
- Draw a straight line on the left, right, top or bottom of the screen, this represents the stage
- Put three cameras on the stage, distributed and draw these cameras as dots on the line
- If a car passes these cameras, transmit these images on tv, highlight the dots on the line when the camera is sending on tv
- The times there is no camera transmitting, show the car closest to the finnish on board.
- Put the top 5 times somewhere on the screen
- Optional: Draw dots where the cars are driving on the straight line
- Optional: Bring us HD! :D

Hope Loix can beat Vouilloz :)

These are good ideas. Also, after each car finishes they could show the top 8 stage positions and overall positions updated. More use of split times would be good too.

I think it is already on HD, I don't have HD but it was on Eurosport HD in the UK at 2pm yesterday.

Hey guys, we came back sunday evening from Valais and had another nice rally over there. When we left on wednesdaymorning we had rain all the day travelling to Martigny. It just didn't stop untill we were at 15 Kms before Martigny, then it suddenly stopped raining. There was a lot of wind and some fog on wednesday evening but not too much rain. During the rally it was completely dry and we had even rather nice weather. Speaking to some of the local people i found out that this part of Zwitserland (Valais region) has a very good climat and is always warmer then rest of the country.
The shakedown took place on a road that is also used in the long (40Kms) stage off "Les Cols", but in opposite direction. We allready saw an idication of what we could expect for the rally. Vouilloz didn't do shake-down, but Loix was immediately fast on his first run. He did three runs. Also fast was Scandola, but i must say he drove very aggressive, cutting a lot in all corners. Alen set nice time, but only after six or seven runs. The rest was a lot slower in shakedown.
I think during the rally it was clear that the Kronos drivers where above the rest. Basso never gave the impression that he would be able to fight for victory and was a little bit disappointing for me. Scandola did start very well, like in San-Remo, but it would have been a surprice to me if he would have stayed on the road, because very aggressive driving. I found Rosetti and Bouffier doing quite well, after all they did this event for the first time. They did some very good times, but were never a thread for the Kronos boys, who put up a great show, fighting for every second. The long stage was for Voullioz who beated Freddy by 15 seconds, mainly because Loix was on wrong tires and suspension was too soft. He then won some stages to reduce his difference with Nico. Last day they started both under maximum attack and Freddy took back some time on the long stage, and came back to about 5 sec of Nico. Then he hit something on second stage and Nico had a puncture on the third stage. After that Van Dalen took the decision that they had to calm down and be at the finish. They decided that Loix would take victory and the vice-champion title, and Vouilloz the championship.
Alltough i would have loved to see the fight going on untill finish i can understand the decision they took.
Anyway, i saw another very nice rally, with beautifull surroundings, and a deserved one-two for Kronos drivers. Great rally also for Rosetti and Bouffier, Luca telling me that he found the stages too quick, and they don't have stages like this in Italy. Brian Bouffier liked the rally a lot, at least that is what he told me. He also said that there is possibility that he will be in Condroz rally in two weeks time with the Proton. ;)
We had another great afterparty, starting at rally centre (cerm) and finished up with Freddy, Robin, Nico, Nico, Luca and Brian in a disco where we had a lot of fun. Looking forward to next season, with hopefully a lot of nice rally's and more attractive fights for victory.
So, now i am going to finish this report and get some sleep, because it was a very hard rally (especially the after-party) :D

Wim, i think that the times that the ERC was a real championship are long over, don't you think so? The last vife years are so, it wasn't that much of a championship in my honoust opinion. It was rather a playground of a few who could affort to compete in most of the highest quoted rallies (ERC20). But most of the time it wasn't a hard fought championship.
