As this event clashes with the McRae Stages it was a tough call as to which event I would be going to however as the rally is "on my door step" the Trackrod won through.

Obviously a round of the BRC and BHRC but also the MSA Gravel championship which has attracted a small but quality entry sadly no Andy Burton as yet though.

apparently the team had fitted an older spec steering rack (EVO7?) shame the BRC has been reduced to the squabble it is this season, but I cant help but think the Mitsubishi team brought it on themselves

just brought this thread back, because I`m thinking of making the trip from essex for this years event.
whats it like, from the site i understand its all on one day, seems ok, but are the stages any good. By that I mean I dont want to go and be hearded into a pen with a thousand other people!

Being "local" I'm somewhat biased however it's a great event. Obviously last year the Historic entry took a bit of a battering being on the same day as the McRae stages however with it also being a round of the MSA Gravel Championship we had the likes of Steve Perez and Marcus Dodd etc in their WRC cars and we may even get Andy Burton in 09!

If the weather is as good as last year the pace will be fast as the Yorkshire stages are ultra quick however with a bit of work it's easy to find good places to watch away from the madding crowd...

I will walk miles for a good spot, so thats not a problem. How many cars are entering this year?

Looking forward to the battle between Higgins and Cronin. The way the points are standing and with the scoring for the lastround it means it's a winner takes all scenario so should be a mighty battle.

Great historic entry but the National rally entry is very poor numbers wise.

Could Higgins win the BRC at the Trackrod?

it would be great to see keith do the job not blowing the irish trumpit but the brc would have been a poorer place only for the irish this year with keith the sensation ali fisher the only other to get near to keith and mark also graig breen and marty McCormack winning the festias and the C2's
graig breen will drive a MMS N12b on the rally and marty ill be out in the MK 2

Agree the BRC has been all the better for the Irish involvement this year. I hope it's a good clean fight and does not involve any of the unpleasantness of the last Higgins vs Ireland showdown on this event.

What happened the last time??? Diggins V Austin MacHale was'nt aware anthing happended

sal
23rd September 2009, 16:14
Diggins hit a boulder in the Accent WRC that had allegedly been put in the road forcing him out of the event despite which he still won the series and MacHale allegedly had oil thrown onto his windscreen etc...

Some people belive that MacHale fans put the rock there in 2004.

Is one day enough for an International event? I know it's a cost issue, but shouldn't they be over 120-150 miles over 2 days?

Saying that, it should be a great event, especially the Histerics.

No fear of the contest beng unsporting. Sportsmanship was displayed by Cronins supporters on the manx when a cluthless Higgy's scooby was helped back on the road.

Was marshalling in Langdale today, on the second run (SS6), David Bogie stopped and retired due to an oil leak and a puncture.

Spent the day in Gale Rigg, great location and a great event (shame there wasn't a higher number of nationals/clubmans though)

sal
28th September 2009, 14:07
Apart from an early scare nearly standing on an Adder, had a relatively uneventful but dusty warm day watching in Gale Rigg. Big gaps between the Historics and the BRC and the Challenge and the Nationals allowed plenty of sunbathing and the dust covering meant didnt get burnt. Sad that the National field was so small but the Historics were great value. Congrats to the new BRC Champions.

Trackrod will be two days again, and according to motorsport news it could have a night stage in Langdale! :D

Also the base will be moved to Scarborough.

Cant see any mention of Oliver's Mount been used yet which would be nice. Less chance of standing on a poisonous snake there!
