Wright finally got the factory support he always wanted and the 2009 R1 seems to be designed with racing in mind, still the 1098 was a weapon this season. I wonder who will run them in 09

whats gonna happen with Rob Mac Racing Yamaha team (Virgin Yamaha what it used to be called).

imo GSE getting the R1 bikes was a shock out of the blue, I didn't expect that news.

Rob Mac will be left out in the cold I suspect.

Rob Mac's team started well winning 3 championships (96,97,98) with the Cadbury's Boost Yamaha's ridden by Nial Mac, Whitham, Hislop and Walker in fact they had 1st and 2nd in the championship for 3 years on the bounce.

The following decade has been barren with only 4 wins compared to 24 wins in 3 years (1996-98). The has also been a lack of stability in terms of riders with 12 different riders in 10 years.

I suspect the final nail in the coffin is the fact that a small satellite Yamaha team like Jentin Racing with rider Simon Andrews are almost 50 points ahead of Harris and Rob Mac Racing in the points table.

There has also been Rob Mac's embarassing R1 Cup with only 14 riders out at Croft. It's a disgrace that the highly entertaining Superstock 1000 gets bumped down the order for the R1 Cup to be televised live. Viewers would undoubtedly prefer to see the SS1000 but that doesn't seem to matter.

I would expect GSE to put Yamaha firmly back near the top of the table.

I dont know much about the background of the situation but Rob Mac Racing was a great disappointment for me this season.

When BSB went to Pirelli control tyres I though Rob Mac Racing would be front runners. In 07 Pirrelli tyres were their main disadvantage (Haydon quitting the team because of them). Instead they turned into a single bike un-sponsored team that rans in the midfield.

I'm not surprised Yamaha choose GSE over them
