This isn't LMP1 but I still love it! It's the Privée Kenzo Asset Shiden. It races in the SuperGT GT 300 Class. HArd to believe its based on a Riley DP chassis

That's what's possible when they allow a different cage around the driver's compartment. I believe Grand Am has a very strict safety cage/cell dimension that the various chassis have to incorporate. That's why they all have a similar boxy shape to the cockpit in Grand Am. It goes to show that a nice looking car CAN be made from them, they just aren't allowed.

i saw the r10 racing this weekend just gone for the first time and i couldnt believe just how quiet it is, it doesnt seem right for an LMP machine to be so silent!!

On a clear track and standing close to the track you can hear the turbos whistling.

I think all the P1 coupes are fantastic. The Epsilon Euskadis deserves a mention

The Lola-Aston is probably my favourite, although I've always been a sucker for any customer prototype with a unique engine.

On the subject of looks, anyone think that if the open-tops had to have full-width roll hoops like they all had before the BMW V12 LMR, they'd look a lot better?

Yes. The Kremer K8 Spyder is the only open top that has ever looked good to me. I can't find a decent 3/4 shot, but the one on this page is OK:
