Video footage while PC gaming?

Can any of the pro's out there remind me how this is done?

I know how to do screenshots, but isn't there a special software required to do the video?

The only thing I find wrong with it is that it does slow my pc down and because I use a keyboard in RBR I find it seems to make it not detect when I press a key, like for a gear, brakes, etc :s Hopefully it won't be a problem with a steering wheel :D

For some reason Fraps crashes every time I try to capture video from the CMR2 game?? Anybody got an idea why?

I have just downloaded the latest version of fraps, and it works perfectly now!
