Yeah, was quite unexpected. Perhaps the extra support by the Ducati factory is starting to show. It's early days yet though, and some of the riders are still trying to find comfortable settings, as well as some may be playing possum. It should be an interesting first race.

I hope the zooks find something to go faster over the next couple of days. It really shouldn't that be surprising that Barros is fastest. The only thing different between his Duc and the factory bikes is the color and the team building it. Just proves that having the right tire and experience can stick you at the sharp end.

but it remains to be seen if Ducati give the same level of support to Barros over the course of the season that they give to the factory riders

Exactly, after all, theyre (D'antin) still a 'satellite' team.. The factory (Marlboro) team will receive all the good bits before Dantin even get a look at them. Just that there isnt any good bits developed yet, so its pretty even.. :p

could it be down to the tyres and the compounds....

Who are Bridgestone's favorite team? If it's just down to the tire then I would expect that by day 3 the zooks may get the same taste of whatever tire the ducs are running. It would make sense that if Bridgestone felt like a tire was performing well they would want to test it on more than one type of bike to learn more about the tire. The zooks only marginally improved on day 2.

Day 3 may provide some answers ( or leave more questions )

I wonder if the qualifiers came out on the final day. I think when it comes time to do the pick'ems for PI, I'll be going with ducks three in a row.

An interesting post over at http://www.motogpmatters.com showing how information you get about testing times should be taken with a grain of salt.
