Some mistakes Raven... :p :

Salanon in France will drive a BSA whale, Jimmy Joge is swedish not norwegian, Bruno Magalhaes will drive the official 207 not a Corolla, ... ;)

Among other rumours:

-Gilles Panizzi, 207 S2000 from MES(Enjolras) on IRC
-Pascal Enjolras, 207 S2000 in french tarmac championship(Michelin Trophy ??)
-A hungarian driver(Janos Toth??)would drive a BSA 207 S2000 on a few national rallies+ IRC
-A swiss driver(Olivier Burri?? Olivier Gillet??) may drive a BSA 207 too(in IRC??)
-First-Motorsport from Belgium would buy one or several 207 too(which drivers, and which championship??)

Tom206wrc
29th January 2007, 09:26
Oops, I forgot among rumours :mark:

-Jérôme Grosset-Janin from France would drive a Fiat Grande Punto S2000, but no idea about the championship(IRC, ERC, or France)...

-Philippe Mermet from France too, would drive a Punto too on selected events of IRC(tarmac like Valais, Condroz and Madeira,...)

According to Compte-Tour Magazine(french motorsport magazine), Peugeot "Belgium Luxembourg netherland"(Benelux) would have ordered a 207 S2000 and would run an interesting program this year(Ypres, Condroz, 2 or three other IRC events and WRC Deutschland Rally) :)

Several drivers and teams to prepare the car are on the list, but it may be reasonably First-Motorsport team with driver Bernd Casier... ;)

Great topic. If all these numbers are true than S2000 will be a good replacement for the old N4 categorie. It all sounds so great...

More info on the aussie fiesta's:

WA locals Darren Windus and Dean Herridge are again looking to suit up for the rally, with Windus recently inking a deal to run with the factory-backed Pirtek Rally Team Ford in their Super 2000 Fiestas.

In the driver/codriver section we may add:

-Nicolas Vouilloz/Nicolas Klinger(Klinger is friend to Vouilloz and was chosen to codrive him in the BSA whale last year)

-Gilles Panizzi/Freddy Delorme(Delorme comes from Monaco like Daniel Elena, and codrove Panizzi last year in his outings with the 207)...

You can also put here drivers outside Europe, I didn't ask abou that because I'm not following rallying on other continents.

In Belgium for p207 s2000 there are two drivers considered, Bernd Casier and Larry Cols.

Yes. Exactly. He is the driver of Peugeot Greece for the last few years. Only rumours though about the S2000. I wish it comes true!!!
About Vovos, also nothing is sure, because also last year he was going to participate in the last greek rally with the Punto but never happened.
Anyway I won't be surprised to see him with S2000 car in the Elpa rally in October. Would be great to see him in the gravel stages of Halkidiki again with S2000!
There is also a big % that the Thermaikos Rally (Greek Gravel Rally Cup) will use some of the stages that will be used in the gravel day of Elpa Rally and the DETH Rally (Greek Rally Championship) will use some of the stages of the tarmac day of Elpa Rally. So maybe 2 more appearences with S2000???? I repeat, maybe!!!

We can definitely forget Pascal Enjolras among the S2000 drivers !! :mark:

In "Rallyes Magazine" of this month, he says that as in France the S2000 is classified "A-7S"(A7 is the group for the Kit-cars, but with that S that creates an entirely new group - Silly to me!!) and that unlikely there will be at least 5 S2000 cars on tarmac championship(if you have less than 5 cars of the same class you can't be counted in championship - that's the rule in France  )so he believes it's not worth driving such car in french championship...

He finally decided he will drive a 206 S1600 instead in the Michelin trophy... :(

It will be hard for him to get decent points with so many GrA 4WD cars and Top Maxi Kit-cars involved the championship - Michelin Trophy :s

Now I wonder who will drive the free 207 S2000 from Enjolras Sport

Well, as feared I've read on different forums the news were wrong, Alex Bengué aims the IRC with a Fiat Grande Punto S2000 and won't run in France at all, and Thierry Beuron would buy a 207 S2000 only if he manages to sell his current car(Clio S1600)...

It's incredible that in France, land of the 207, we may see only Grande Punto in S2000 running in the main championship(tarmac) !!!

I really hope/wish good surprises from the Lyon-Charbonnières rally in S2000 class :mark:

I haven't seen the entry list, but I think it's easy to guess. You only have to list the drivers that declared plans in ERC and add 3 drivers from Italian championship.

My guess is:
Basso (Fiat)
Rossetti (Peugeot)
Perico (Peugeot)

Solowow (Fiat)
Isik (Fiat)

From Portugal, Pedro Lamy(circuit driver, one of Peugeot's main driver for the le Mans 908 diesel powered program) took place near Bruno Magalhaes for a run... :D
Again from Portugal, young and promising driver Bernardo Sousa would aim an S2000(either from Peugeot or Fiat)to run 2nd part of portuguese rallies championship... ;)

At last, this coming week-end several S2000s are to be followed on european rallies:

-Delta Rally Croatia with Czopik(Polo), Fontana(Grande Punto), Solowow(Grande Punto) and Isik(Grande Punto)...
See thread of rally on this forum

-Rally della Marca(Italy) with Bernardelli(Grande Punto)

Yes, Norbert Guzek wants to hire Pug 207 S2000 for 2 or 3 rounds of the Polish championship. Pure waste of money, if you ask me. He used to drive Renault Clio Ragnotti, Ford Puma S1600 (http://www.rallyonline.pl/ft.php?idg=1509&pg_[go]=21) and Citroen C2 S1600, but never achieved anything...

I have to say that Bruno Magalhães was very impressive while the car was ok. He has beaten his opponents very easily, He push a lot. In the first leg he had electrical problems and then in second leg were engine problems, not a typical problems of a S2000 car until now. The other S2000, The Fiat Punto of José Pedro Fontes has retired in the first leg due gearbox broken, well, a typical problem of a S2000 car, but in the second leg under the super-Rally rules he was the fastest on the road and took 10 points to the championship.
At this moment there are huge gap between Bruno and Fontes, Fiat must work a lot if want to be able to catch Peugeot.

what is the problem with the Rene Georges cars? i cant always follow what has happened in the events. Last i heard Freddy Loix was doing quite well with it.

It is strange to me that there are so many issues, as the Polo's here in south africa are bullet proof! there is almost never issues with gearboxes or anything like that.

the truth is all 8 our S2000's have given minimal problems this season, with a near perfect finishing record. The conditions we rally in over here are probably rougher than in Europe, ask me not having a good season because of it! yet we dont have the unreliability!

The pace in this country is at an all time high, with seedings exceeding Alister McCrae's from when he was her last year for the Zulu rally, so lack of pace is definately not the answer.

The truth is that Czopik break polos and blames rene georges for that, this is put in media and so on and on... The thruth is that the polos won several rallys and even beats all S2000 on speed in the last Belgian Ypres Westhoek Rally. Unfortunatly the car retired because a litle stupid thing broke. There were other S2000 that retired, so nothing special about that. I think 50% of S2000 retired, so 1/2 polo is not so special.

HaCo: Here You can see no Belgian and no Polish point of view...

Czopik was a customer, he paid a lot of money to René Georges to get reliable car. As the one who pays he was also the one who could criticize. And any customer could change team if he is dissapointed with it.

René Georges is a "seller". It is very strange when he blames Czopik for any drivers mistake because he hasn't paid Czopik! Any driver's mistake is only driver's problem (customer's). Driver pays money to have no more problems than his own mistakes.

Of course some problems could occur but if they does on every event then it is absolutly standard way to change team. There wasn't probably a single rally where Czopik hasn't technical problems with car. What would You do Yourself on his place? You must see that it was Czopik's money spent there, no René Georges's. And how could You write that Czopik broke Polos and blames Belgians for that? How can driver break a power steering, differencials, electronics or fire extenguisher? I understand You're Belgian but what You wrote is only flame, not true.

And as Grant wrote, Polo's in Africa doesn't have such problems, so there's something strange about René Georges's ream... And I say that even I like the Polo more than other S2000's.

Sorry, but I didn't want to flame anyone...

What I was trying to say:
Some say that rene georges cars, the polos, are not good and not reliable. They base themselves on results of Czopic. I say, look at other drivers that also drive the Polo and look at their results.
I also said that I am disapointed in the result of Czopik in Ypres. I really tought he was able to catch top 5, but he was very far from that. A part from being inexperienced....
I also say, that the bad luck is not only caused by Rene Georges team. Ok, rene georges also made mistakes (also unfortunate) because of having the wrong parts etc, but Czopik also made a lot of mistakes this season.
And you are absolutely right. Czopik is customer and if he is not happy, he has the right to change. I hope he will make a good result in his Punto.

But I don't like when people are saying that the Polo is slow, and unreliable. It has proven it can win and it can be reliable. Most S2000's have reliability problems. From what I seen in Ypres, the Polo is the fastest car of the S2000. There were a lot of experienced drivers in Ypres in a good S2000, but no one could match the speed of Loix, until he got bad luck. Don't forget, Rene Georges is a privat team and they do it all by themselves.

Hope we're straight. ;)

Yes, Polo is very fat, Hevia and Loix shows it in national championships. But problem is a number of racing Polos. We can see lot of Pugs and Fiats with good and not so good drivers, some of them has problems, some of them are without problems. But there are only two Polos together and I think that is main problem of this car - everybody, who can buy or rent S2000 now is asking for 207 or Punto, because they dont believe Polo. And that should be the largest mistake of Rene Georges - promotion. I think very good for him should be starts with good driver like Loix in IRC or ERC, where he can shows possibility of this car...

Mirek
6th July 2007, 17:52
HaCo: Ok, let's stop that, but don't say Polo is fastest when there is a great local driver behind the wheel. Especialy on such stages. Drivers like Rossetti, Navarra or Vuilloz were there for the first time. Maybe Polo is fastest but Loix's performance on his home battlefield can't prove that ;)

Yes this is the true problem of this subject for me. Renes Georges has not enough resources to develop the Polo like Peugeot and Fiat are doing with their cars. what kind of support Renes Georges has from VW factory? maybe nothing!!!. The polo has a good potential in my opinion, and Loix has showed that in Ypres, but without money and really specialized knowledge everything is more difficult and we can not wait miracles. Look what it happened with RED and their Toyotas, where they are?? only one if I'm not wrong in British championship. why....?

Apparently Perico is on entrylist of rally San Crispino with a 207 S2000...has he already found a new team to replace Twister Corse ???

On the italian Rallylink forum some wrote that Perico will drive Freddy Loix Polo S2000 in fact

Czech driver Roman Odložilik will drive a Punto S2000 on Rally Pelhrimov (3.-4.8.2007.). I think the car is prepared by JM Engineering Zlin. It will be interesting to see if he can beat 2 octavia WRCs.

You are right Filip ;) I'll be there and looking forward to his performance. Odložilík is faster as a driver than both Flídr and Trněný (both on Octavia WRC), but only if he reaches the finish :) He has also good oposition in group N4 cars as Trojan, Semerád and others. He must get used to drive new car too. There is another premiere... Tlusťák will drive Lancer evo 9 there.

Yes, I don't like Trneny's solo race against inferior cars on rallysprints so I hope Odložilik can beat him.
Is this Toni's first drive in N4 car?

Finally Alessandro Perico drove a Subaru Impreza GrN on the Rally San Crispino and retired with engine problem on SS1 :(

Filip: Yes, I think so, I remember only once Tlusťák drove 4WD car - Octavia WRC maybe two or three years a go...

I have nothing against Trněný even he is not spectacular to watch. It's his car and his money and when his car is allowed to race there then why not...

I hope they will replace the Corolla by the Auris, it is much more interesting for importers to pay a drive of the Auris...

The R.E.D built Auris S2000 should be debuted on WRGB as far as I know :)

We will see. It will be first time for Odlozilik with S2000. As I was talking to him last week, he never sit in this car, so he doesnt believe himself to make a good result. But we will see...

Excellent news !!!! Julien Pressac will drive the BSA 207 S2000 on the last two IRC events(SanRemo and Valais) !!!! :bounce:

For those of you who don't know him, he's running the french gravel championship in that car and had his best result ever last week-end at Langres(3rd overall behind WRC/GrA cars)... ;)

Apparently BSA would run the complete IRC in 2008 with that driver and he has to prepare the car on tarmac...

So, minor changes. Roman wont start with this car on Rally Pelhrimov, but he will use it on Rally Prachatice and Barum Rally.

For those who are still doubting the MG S2000 project, i had autosport magazine in hands this month and there was a test of this car dicussed in it, if you look hard enough there allways pop up scans of articles on the net, so here they are 3:
