Some news from Poland. Mariusz Malyszczycki (who won second division trophy this year) wants to compete in Polish championship next year with either Fiat Punto or Peugeot 207 S2000 (if he finds additional money).

Grzegorz Grzyb (http://www.rallyonline.pl/ft.php?idg=2523&pg_[go]=34) will enter Slovakian championship next year with S2000 car as well. He said that his manager in Slovakia already found sponsors for this project. Grzyb would like to compete with the same car also in Poland, but nothing is decided yet.

Maciej Lubiak (http://www.rallyonline.pl/ft.php?idg=2585&pg_[go]=10) decided to leave Fiat Poland team, but the team still want to continue their rally project.

It was also the first czech outing for several S2000s(Prague rallysprint), and Tomas Kostka(Grande Punto)finished 4th overall, just in front of Jozef petak(207)5th overall ;)

Less success for the S2000s on the Rajd Barborka in Poland, as the best of them(Bryan Bouffier in the Kronos 207)only takes 8th overall(Michal Solowow in the Grande Punto was 10th overall)... :mark:

Tom: Those were not important events and results say nothing.

But, yes, Petak was nicely fast. On the only real stage (and very slippery) he was 3rd, 2nd and 4th with only WRC's infront of him (Triner - Octavia, Pech - Corolla, Trneny - Fabia). Once he even defeated Pech :) On Strahov circuit stage he lost a lot of time when he did more than two rounds on Tuohino's rear bumper (Evo 9) and he also made a spin there. But we saw that Petak enjoyed Peugeot very much :) Kostka was also fast, not such sideways but agresive. He also had to go behind some gr.N car some round. He's circuit driver but very good in rally too even he starts very rarely.

Is it sure that Kostka starts in Italy?

It´s just a rumor and it doesn`t say anything about that. We can expect official announcement about Jereb`s program for 2008 in next few weeks. My opinion is that he´s not interested in slovenian championship anymore. I think his options for 2008 are PWRC, IRC or ERC. For him as tarmac specialist, PWRC with just gravel and snow rallyes, is not very good option. He needs lot more driving on those two surfaces to be successful. We`ll see. It`s just my opinion. He lost his main sponsor - OMV, so it will be hard to him to get necessary budget for any of those champinships.

Relax; it's got nothin to do with the Australian S2000, babelfish translation:

With the universe of the S2000 to gain land and the WRC to have its sentence of death announced for 2010, Malcolm Wilson knows that it is there for the way for the future, but for already this it is a scene that is dependent of a possible contract renewal between the M-Sport and the Ford: "We are intent to the regulations and the ascension of the S2000, but the construction of an car of these, in an official perspective, also depends on the prolongation of the contract of the M-Sport with the Ford and of the new rules that WEAVE it it will want to impose for the future. To evolve for this situation still we are to evaluate and to study all the projectos, knowing still if the appositive one would not fall again on a Focus or a Fiesta ".

Renault decided that a 200 000 € S2000 car did not match the Dacia image of cheap cars and canned it. A big mistake in my book, the brand would have had a flying start commercially if they had dome it.

I've read in the WRC section of the forum polish driver Michal Kosziusko would run national championship this year in the Grande Punto S2000(he did run with it at the end of last year in Austria, and finished a great 2nd overall after Stohl was disqualified)

Kosciuszko drove the car in Walles too. Nothing confirmed yet I think. It was car from JM engineering and there are many drivers rumoured or sure to drive those two cars.

I'm not sure about that Paulo, finally Vitor will have a decent oposition in Madeira championship. As you know the Peugeot of Camacho will be built by Peugeot Portugal, which means quality...so my bet goes to Alexandre Camacho! :p

And it was one of the best sounding cars there  He was on the rev limiter in top gear approaching where I was, and visibility was about 15m with the fog!

J4mie, unfortunately modern rally cars are far too quiet. Only S2000 cars are screaming. Where are the days of throbbing and fire shooting imprezas and howling F2s? Sniff...

We have new rulles for 2008. Minimum weight was changed in the way of actual numbers. As far as I know the cars weight a bit more than new limit and the old limit was unrealistic. Actualy limit is now 50 kg plus in all condition.

The minimum weight is 1200 kg with 6.5'' x 15'' or 7'' x
15'' wheels and 1150 kg with 18'' or 16'' wheels under the
conditions of Article 4.1 (and with only one spare wheel).

The combined minimum weight of the car (under the conditions of
Article 4.1 and with only one spare wheel) and crew (driver + codriver)
is 1350 kg with 6.5" x 15" or 7'' x 15'' wheels and 1300 kg
with 18" or 16'' wheels.

That could be good news for at least Toyota. In my knowledge Toyota had the biggest problems with the old weight limit.

Mirek
17th January 2008, 15:17
As far as I know no S2000 car had less than 1150 kg on tarmac rallys so nothing changes...

RS
17th January 2008, 16:07
Why have they done this? Bad news IMO as it will make the cars less agile.

It won't really help anyone as the teams will still spend money on weight saving - then any spare they can put in as ballast in all the right places.

Mirek
17th January 2008, 16:16
RS: As I wrote before, that change will have no effect on cars because they all are even heavier than new limit. They just realized that old limit was unrealistic in terms of S2000 rulles.

Interesting !!! From 2008 in portuguese/Madeira championship the S2000s have a group/class change !!! They become "A8" instead of "N4"... :mark:

Mirek
18th January 2008, 19:17
By technical and logical way S2000 are everything except group N car.

Karbonyl
18th January 2008, 23:38
Totally agree. Matching S2000 cars as Group N machines is absolute nonsense...

Sulland
19th January 2008, 10:42
But if you look at the results they are pretty evenly matched, are'nt they ?
So why is it wrong to put them in the same class ?

But it does not make sense to put them i A8 either, is A7 only 2wd or could they go there ? (Gr A under 2000 ccm)

Karbonyl
19th January 2008, 11:10
Yes, the results of S2000 and production cars are matching nicely, but that's not reason for putting them together in one group. Because it's completely denying the basic characteristics of group N cars, which are serial - opposite that S2000 cars are highly tuned machines, OMI they should have it's own category, because in current system of classes and groups they can not be placed anywhere. Solution to this problem is waiting in the new classement system (R1, R2, R3...).

In the Belgian national championship are the S2000's in A7, except in Ypres. This was already in 2007 too. ;)

Mirek
19th January 2008, 11:50
In the mess of today it doesn't matter since nowadays gr. N cars are no longer group N too. Basicly they are gr. A machines with smaller restrictors. S2000 are definitely not gr. N cars from it's basis. But as Karbonyl wrote we have mess untill new R classes are the only ones.

Karbonyl
19th January 2008, 11:59
As far as I know in France exists class A7S for S2000 - the best solution I saw yet...

urabus-denoS2000

It is just not into the idea of N4.N4 is PRODUCTION cars.they should be in a7,or a7s as in france

HaCo
19th January 2008, 18:27
Production Car produced for competition. And after production extra modified for competition. IMO, top N4 cars are very far from production cars.

But hey, every car has to be produced, so logicly S2000 is a production car too... ;)

That is a real big shame. No homologation for the Fiesta either I gues... It will be the Toyota's against the rest next year in Australia, unless one buys a Fiesta...
