Perhaps the only event on the claendar with which I am comfortable doing with little to know recce..you just go flat out.
Distracted by MotoGP since the last CMR2 BRC round :D
By the way jso1985: your signature is incredibly appropriate after the Laguna Seca round.
If Fiat/Yamaha wanted someone to wreck bikes they could have hired me at 50% what they are paying Lorenzo

I love the NORF, but have never really done well here..
Day 1:
Had a really bad oversteer troughout the day, adjusting the gearbox didn't help much, neither did hitting a three or two. Perhaps I have spent too much time on asphalt in the Fabia S2000.
Day 2:
A fresh start and a much better handling, managed 3 PBs only to loose the advantage gained on the grass in two very long spins off the road.
Oh well.. on to my favorite (real life) event: Germany!!
Tannat, how about a recce thread to shake off the finnish dirt?

What were your settings, JTL?
I'm +3 suspension, +2 steering, +1 gearbox for stages 1-2, 0 gearbox for the rest (wingpad playstation 1)

I was almost going to miss my home event. I came back home from real NORF yesterday and I hadn't time to practise at all. I just finished my race and the times were terrible. Looks like spectating a WRC event doesn't help the CMR2 driving at all...

As I recall they were:
Gearbox - 0
Suspention - +4
Steering - +3
Brake power - +3
Brake bias - +3
Pc keyboard
The car was fishtailing all over the place on day 1, but when starting day 2 with the exact same setting there were no problems, perhaps I just needed to get used to loose surface after driving the slightly understeering Fabia (pug 206) for a while.

Timecard submitted!
It was a good rally for us, our favorite in fact, although we did not have time for any preparation at all (again) and the weather was against us the first day (rain on 5 stages, 2 completed with dry tires). But still I am satisfied with our speed in the second leg of the rally.

Reporter: I see the body men have been a work, Tannat. Pranged it a time or two?
Tannat: Yes. We received a poor weather report for stages 5 and 6. What was expected to be drizzle for half a stage turned out to be rain for nearly all of each stage. I don't feel so bad for the team. We need to hire people who know their job!
Reporter: I understand you gave some spectators a scare as well..
Tannat: Coming onto a sharp right our car slid and we contacted a barrier adjacent to a farmhouse. I believe it was made of rubber as we bounced off with little damage :p
Reporter: Doesn't sound like the greatest day to me.
Tannat: For certain it could have been better. Overall we probably lost 1-2 seconds per stage today.
Reporter: Sorry to hear that, Tannat. Best of luck for tomorrow...

5th August 2008, 13:12
Yes, it is. I did some good results in the past, but I am not quite sure about this one. I am too busy lately, and have no spare time for practice. But I am still enjoying the game very much, so it is not very important for me if I am 3th or 5 th, although a nice results gives me more pleasure and excitement when I do the next event.

Marcel Haenen finishes Rally Finland
This was a heavy rally! with hardly any practice we had to driver this rally. Along the way we made some mistakes, got some light rain, but set some good PB's as well! We hope to end this eventfull rally, which is one of our favourites, with a big points haul.
We are already looking forward to rally Germany as well. As we are usually one of the fastest on asphalt, the upcoming rallies could be desicive in the championship this year.

Rally Finland has done. My driving was a little bit dissapointing for me. Some stages were all right, but I had no confidence in the steering wheel. Two big mistakes each day made my times poor. Rollover at day two on SS6 was very bad looking. I'm really not satisfied .... Hoping for better driving on tarmacs.

NORF Report.
Eurosport: How was the rally?
Homer: Tough. You have to concentrate so much to squeeze those extra tenths that make a difference it's a real challenge for sure. But we set good times including a couple of PBs on some stages so can't really complain.
Eurosport: The championship is very tight, was that playing on your mind?
Homer: With the comeptitiveness of a lot of drivers there's not much room for thinking what might be you just have to get on with it, attack each stage as it comes. We did that here and I hope that means we'll get a good result for us and also the team. If we leave here still in the lead, great, if not we'll just have to try and get it back next round!
Eurosport: So how do you see the rest of the season playing out?
Homer: Honestly, I don't know. There's been times where we've won stages and events when I didn't think we would and others when I felt we had the pace to win but didn't! After Finland we have a few tarmac rounds which we always enjoy a lot but also know that Marcel, Tannat and others will be competitive. But that's good fun knowing you're testing yourself against some very fast guys.

Regarding the gamplay it is probably best stated that the top two competitors in this championship are on PS1 and PC respectively ..

I just completed the rally. Boy, that was tough.
This afternoon I did a quick recce of the stages because I never spent much time on this rally before. My shakedown times show I'm not going to be a big threat to the top positions on this one...
2.24,68
2.21,65
2.21,21
x (heavy crash, going end-over-end)
2.23,18 (hit several trees but kept it on the road, more or less)
Some stages during the rally were fine, and I was lucky with the weather. But all in all it was my worst rally for some time in terms of getting off the road and hitting things. At the end of day 1 the car really was severely beaten up.
Day 2 was a little better, overall improvement of a few seconds because I made less silly mistakes. But going off on SS 8 in exactly the same spot as on the first day was perhaps the silliest mistake of all ;)

Thanks for giving us those results so quickly
Congratulations to Marcel for another fine win, to Homer for staying so close, and to NOR for rounding out the podium.
It's going to be a very exciting championship conclusion, with both Marcel and Homer on 76 points. Tannat did very well in Finland to get a 4th place and is now looking increasingly secure in 3rd in the championship. Or can NOR catch up?
I'm very pleased with scoring a point on this tricky rally. Judging by the gap to Juha this was the maximum I could get from this round. It's a shame none of my team mates showed up for this event. Magnus, Scandi, where are you? Are you already preparing for a points showing in Germany? Judging by my tarmac efforts in the BRC so far, the points are not going to come from me...

Yes congratulations to Marcel once again  I honestly don't see how I could have gone any quicker and he's shown once again why he's defending champion! Stunning drive.
Looking at the stages i'm guessing he got some rain when I didn't when I closed the gap by a few seconds but everywhere else he was just too good.
Time to re-group and do some tarmac testing see if we can repeat our earlier form on the surface and maybe nick that championship lead back. Going to be hard with NOR and Tannat both showing great pace and I know our American friend loves the sealed surface!
Off to Germany....see you all there :)

small correction on the times.
Marcel Haenen's time on SS18 is 2:16,65 and not 2:15,66, which means his overall time is actually 36:04,56.
There's no changes on the final positions
