@ Tomi, Miika, jonkka: Kiitos! Blimey, it took me nearly 20 years to find out the joke behind Martti Jalmari Kangas’ pseudonym… I was told that their family business, a shoemaker company called 'Finn Lord Shoes', went down the drain and Martti later used an alias to continue racing because of the tax men.

A lousy 50m jump? Rallycrosser Jussi Kynsilehto (guided by rally guru Martin Holmes by then) from Oulo did about 70m in 1975 at SS Raikuu with a, by nowadays standards, tame Ford Escort RS1600 BDA. But afterwards it was all but a RS1600 BDA… LOL

I remember heard or reading from somewhere that the notes they used was borrowed from Timo Mäkinen, and Timo did not make notes of all small crests, thats why Holmes dropped of the note.

At the one bend and one junction I had a change to compare the driving styles off Seb and Mikko they where completely different. The first place was here:

SS16 & 19, Kakaristo about 700 m from start. High speeds bend to right (nice place):

http://maps.google.fi/maps?f=q&hl=fi&geocode=&q=j%C3%A4ms%C3%A4&mrt=all&sll=62.593341,27.575684&sspn=9.14586,28.300781&ie=UTF8&ll=61.787916,25.155301&spn=0.00915,0.043945&z=15

They where coming from north and I was watching on Takalantie. I couldn’t see the end of the bend but Mikko throw the car sideways before the bend and Seb drove with a “straight” line from the left side of the road to the inside of the bend. Mikko was the only one who throws the car sideways before the bend.

The second place was here:

SS24, Ruuhimäki about 3,7 km from start:

http://maps.google.fi/maps?f=q&hl=fi&geocode=&q=ruuhim%C3%A4ki&mrt=all&sll=61.786963,25.151696&sspn=0.008562,0.043945&ie=UTF8&ll=62.221426,26.155379&spn=0.00422,0.021973&z=16

They where coming from Kotamäentie and turned to Ruuhimäentie. Here I couldn’t see how that approached the junction but Seb came out of the junction with a four-wheel slide to outside of the road. Mikko had already turned the car when he came out of the junction and was quite close to the right side of the road after the junction. Here Petter Solberg used the same line as Seb and Henning Solberg used the same line as Mikko. Maybe the other driving style is faster on broader roads and the other one on more narrow roads.

Sami, You have made some analysis of different driving styles in another thread, what do you think?

Looks to me like the jump on Palsankylä, a bit more than 2/3 of the way through roughly. Was there in 2007. Pretty crazy when driving, the road literally falls away from underneath you!

Viktory is right, that's the place! :) Most of the Ford's were fearless on this jump.

At least you can watch it here (only in Finnish): http://nettitv.mtv3.fi/maksuttomat/index.shtml/maksuttomat/ralli/suomi

Browse down at the left until you see “Killeri Ek1 (koko lähetys).

I noticed today that Easyjet are shortly going to start flying from Gatwick to Helsinki, might be a good option for next year

Jos ei mitään yritä ei mitään myöskään saa = If you don't try you don't get anything.
