Just got back from WTCC at Brands as Oulton is a bit far from me. Two great WTCC races good to see Menu win the second race.
Did anyone else go? What did u think? I personally wont b going again the support races were boring and paid 12 quid for pit walk about and no drivers were there and some of the garages were all shut up! Not a big crowd either.
BTCC is def number one series in my book.

There were 35,000 at Oulton Park and the biggest BTCC crowd in a decade. How many were at Brands Hatch?

Yup I was there, tickets for Paddock Grandstand but also took the oppourtunity to walk around the GP 'loop' during the afternoon as i've not been to a meeting thats used it since the last time the BTCC did.
I thought the WTCC races were good, the format is very different to the BTCC of course, and I think it's a shame the races aren't a bit longer/there isn't a third race. SEAT Eurocup was good, as was the Formula Master race. Palmer Audi and that 'Swinging 60's' thing were a bit rubbish though.. :s The F1 demonstration was also good, nice to see Andy going out for a 2nd go at doughnuts at Paddock as well. Have to say I didn't bother with the pit-lane walkabout as I suspected it would be a bit naff.
Admittedly they could do with more support races like the BTCC Tour, but for what it was I thought it was a good day out.

Nowhere near that number, i'd say a lot less than for the usual BTCC weekend. It wasn't empty, but not heaving either.

Support race piccies to follow soon...
Definitely less crowded then the BTCC, and the support race package not as good as last year. Plus Brit drivers not doing so well on home round...Huff having to pit from lead (!) in race one with puncture on his 100th touring car race, then Andy P retiring from race two.....

Brands Hatch had decent racing, shame for Rob Huff to lose out on a race win through a puncture.

Agreed. Apparently when he went into pit to get this fixed he was shall we say less than happy?

Wow! That sounds great. I watched it on itv 4 and really enjoyed it. It was great racing as usual. How long did it take you to get out of the circuit at the end with all those people.
I went to thruxton in may and that took a while but I don't think there were that many there.

A great weekend with fantastic weather and great touring car racing. More overtakes in one lap than there were in both the races last year.
I agree the support package wasn't as good as last year, plus running the two WTCC races back-to-back (at the behest of Eurosport I understand) took away the anticipation for the rest of the day.
My pics are here for anyone who's interested, I'm chuffed with quite a few of them: http://www.flickr.com/photos/iangallagher82/sets/72157606438587806/

It probably should have been put more tackfully but they were not very good, totally out of their depth even the LADA beat them!
Nice colour tho!!

Well maybe its beacuse Turkey doesn't have a very good touring car championship - take Erkut K. at the start of last year he went to Turkey and beat everyone by miles in the two races he contested but then when he came to Britain in the SAME car against SIMALAIR cars he only managed two points finishes. I think it has somthing to do with the fact that Turkish driving standards are not great or it might be because us Turks all start in rallying and we dont really like the asfalt.

The local racing scene must have something to do with it. I can only think of two Turkish drivers that spring to mind. Erkut and Jason Tahinci, who we used to follow in Formula Renault, purely because he had a car painted like a Cadbury's wrapper. :D
For example, Scotland is probably a smaller country than Turkey, but we have established series at club level and that helps train up drivers for when they do British national series and more. Turkey probably doesn't have as much does it?
