View Full Version : TRD3: FPA World Series Round 4 Zandvort

RaikkonenRules
27th January 2007, 10:55
Round 4 brings us back to Europe at the Zandvort circuit in Holland. Zandvort is right next to the beach and the stars of the series will have a chance to top up their tans before hitting the track.

Sand from the beaches often blow onto the track so the track gets very dusty at times. This means grip will be less than usual, especially in practice so our drivers will have to take extra special care.

Series Leader, Muz stalled on the grid last time at Barbegello and therefore scored nil pois :( His once mighty lead over Peter Vuko has dropped to just a measley 5 points. Figures crossed he will have better luck here. Muz will be hoping to repeat his victories in the opening two rounds of the series.

Peter Vuko is now back in the series battle. The Aussie has enjoyed some consistent results with two 3rds and a 4th last time out. He has shown very good speed in other series and he should have his first win before long.

Vuko's son Steven returned to racing at Barbegello and finished 3rd. It is unone whenever he will be racing full time or not but some people say he's even faster than his father.

Pole, Adam Sloma entered the series late at Oran Park but has shown some very quick although slightly erratic pace and finished 2nd on his debut followed by a win at Barbegello, both from pole postion. Sloma is definately the red hot favourite for the win here and is easily the fastest driver in the series.

Young Brit RaikkonenRules started his campain with a pair of 5ths and was right on the pace at Barbegello with a 2nd place. The youngest driver in the series is now 4th in the championship just 8 points off Muz.

BobZee has had some good pace recently being only just off the leading pace. As has American Johnny Shell. Fellow American Lugnut started the series with a 2nd at Brands but hasn't raced since due to personal issues. He hopes to make a return soon, hopefully today.

Of the rest of the field Real Illusions has been reguly in the top 10 as has Neil Adams. Another Brit Jon Brown has just withdrawn due to funding but showed excellent pace at Brands with a 4th.

So will Sloma repeat his win at Barbegello or will Muz get back to winning ways. Find out on February 9 20:00 GMT.

A few teams have already arrived at Norisring for Rd 4 of the FPA series. Practice sessions have begun. Once again the Pole Adam Sloma is showing the way. The top 4 times so far : 1. A.Sloma 1m.14.58 2. P.Vuko 1m.14.81 3.BobZee 1m.15.28 4. J.Shell 1m.19.02.
This is a very difficult track to master & a good set up is vital. R/R, Vuko Jnr are expecting to arrive today - we hope to see some quick times from them. Muz is still sorting out the problems on his car from last Rd but he is confident of getting to the grid. Rumours are that US driver Lugnut may make to this Rd. More info on the practice sessions in the next few days.

With a good set up, using the boost at the right time & taking the right lines.. Hey real_illusions I'll pm you details of my current set up tonight. I did a 1.14.8 & there is room for improvement. Oh, welcome to Piotr - the Poles will be hard to beat!!

I also think that there is a big advantage in these cars if you have a decent steering wheel. ;) It allows you to turn in sharper. apparently :(

Adam Sloma
29th January 2007, 00:50
I'm after another practice sesion.
Time with default setup 1:16.40s (I think that 1:16.00 it's possible)
Time with my settings 1:14.38s (I think that 1:14.00 it's possible)

As you see, a good setup on this track is worth 2 seconds.

Real_illusions, if you dont get a wheel, you dont be able to do a good time. Of course game must rocognize your wheels (in options>driving>player 1>steering mode must be written WHEEL or MULTITURN WHEEL) if not (steering mode = JOYPAD on PC its PAD/KEYBOARD) your wheel work like a pad. On PC I can change this options even if I dont have a wheel. I play on PSX analog joypad, but change steering mode to wheel and my joypad work like a wheel :) .

I found a bit of speed by reworking my gearing a bit and stiffening up my suspension a bit.

2. P. Borkowski 1:14.46
3. P. Vuko 1:14.81

5. J. Shell 1:17.20

not sure where to find another 2 seconds to catch up with Bob though!

hey, Peter? since you have your set-ups in email form already, I was wondering if you might not forward them to me, too? :D

on my gearing - I have it just about red-lining on the end of the long straight. then each gear below that drops it down about 1000 rpm.

does that sound about right? any replies or PM's would sure be greatly appreciated!

got a suggestion for the later part of the season

for the 2nd time we visit the tracks, why not add a compulsory tyre change to spice it up a bit? or maybe start at the back of the grid...or both...

Practice continued today for the upcoming Formula Palmer Audi race at the Zandvort cicruit in Holland, with American Johnny Shelll finding another 65/100th of a second in the machine normally driven by Joey Hand. THe lap of 1:16.55 came by only downshifting at the end of the main straight instead of braking and downshifting.

Johnny is still well over a second off the pace of the FPA "Fab Four", which consist of the Polish Pair Adam Slova and Piotr Borkowski and Awesome Aussies Peter Vuko and BobZee.

We're still awaiting the arrival of other lead contenders RaikkonenRules, Vuko the Junior, and Muz, who we're all hoping has his engine problems sorted out!

A few more new times at practice today. Here is the current top 6:
1.A.Sloma 1m.14.38
2.P.Borkowskis 1m.14.46
3.P.Vuko 1m.14.72
4.S.Vuko 1m.14.91
5.B.Zee 1m.15.28
6.J.Shell 1m.16.55

Still no R/Rules or Muz times!! Come on guys!!!

With only a few days left we have a new pole sitter at Zandvoort. Vuko Jnr posting a blistering lap. The top 5 times so far:
1.S.Vuko 1m.14.15
2.A.Sloma 1m.14.27
3.P.Vuko 1m.14.40
4.P.Borkowski 1m.14.46
5.B.Zee 1m.14.99

We STILL have not seen R/Rules or Muz on the track. No sign of US driver Lugnut either. The 14 lapper will be difficult at this track. Again handling the traffic will probably determine the outcome.

ran my race last night. hope I finished on the lead lap again!

this was the first race I didn't lap another car in, with the AI set at 100% as prescribed by serie's rules.

I had car (personal) trouble most the early part of the 'weekend', so I never really got my laps up to my full capabilities in practice. I believe by race time I was pretty well running as fast as I was capable of, though.

so, I probably didn't move up the field any this race. really, I'll be lucky if those guys chomping on my heals like Real Illusions don't catch me!

all in all I like this track a lot.

now, off to the next round!

The last Qualifying session saw an amazing turn of events. Adam Sloma from Poland came out with a flying lap of 1m.14.03 jumping over Vuko Jnr's 1m.14.15. With only 5 mins remaining Vuko Snr completed two scorching laps, a 1m.14.14 & then a 1m.14.06 to go into 2nd spot. With two mins remaining Vuko Jnr went for broke & became the only driver to ever break the 1m.14 barrier setting a blistering 1m.13.94 to take pole!

Hi everybody and welcome to the 4th round of the Formula Palmer Audi World Series live from Zandvort, Netherlands.

Today saw the debut of Pole, Pitor Borkowski, he lines up 4th on the grid behind Polesitter Steven Vuko, fellow Pole, Adam Sloma and Peter Vuko. 5th is BobZee with RaikkonenRules alongside. Muz is 7th with Johnny Shell 8th. Real Illusions, Neil Adams and Alpha Fan complete the grid as neither Criag Nayler or Foxystoat have shown up.

The lights go out and it's go. Steven Vuko makes a great start while Sloma fails to get off the line. He finally wakes up again and gets going but the field is over 10 seconds ahead. Steven leads from his father, Peter. Borkowski is 3rd with Muz 4th, RR 5th then BobZee, Shell, Real Illusions, Adams and Alpha Fan with Sloma playing catch up after his terrible start.

Lap 4 Muz makes a move on Borkowski but the Pole hasn't seen him and cuts him off at the hairpin. The pair collide leaving both too damaged to continue. Not a good day for the Poles. Meanwhile Sloma has got past Alpha Fan who is well off the pace today and is now right behind Adams in 7th.

Lap 7 Peter Vuko passes his son for the lead. RR and BobZee are 5 seconds down the road battling for third. Sloma is rapidly making his way through the field and is running faster laps than the Vukos. He has easily passed Johnny Shell, Real Illusions and Neil Adams. Alpha Fan is already a lap down as he continues to struggle.

Lap 9 Vuko Jr. repasses Vuko Snr. for the lead. The father and son duo are in a class of their own today as RR and BobZee are caught by Sloma who has just set the fastest lap of the race, good enougth for 5th on the grid!

Lap 11 Sloma barges past BobZee as the Aussie runs wide and onto the grass. Sloma manages to get past RR in the same palce one lap later. He is now 3rd as he closes down the 7 second gap to the Vukos.

Final Lap Vuko Snr. Passes his son into the 1st corner but runs wide and Jr. gets back at him at the next corner. Steven wins by just over a second as they cross the line. Sloma a managed to close down the gap to just 4 seconds as he finshes 3rd. RR is 4th with BobZee 5th. Shell manages yet another 6th 30 seconds off the leader with Rwal Illusions and Neil Adams the last cars on the laed lap. Alpha Fan completes the race 2 laps down neraly 2 minutes down off Adams.

I think all the "professionals" should run at, like 100% downforce. or no boost. or 100% hard tires. or full ride height.

or better yet, default gearing.

that is, unless you're scared to. unless you NEED those precious little set-ups of your's to beat the likes of me & REalu Illusions and the hard-working Alpha Fan.

next round - default gearing for the "professionals".

THEN let's see how special you really are :P
