Just trying to understand S2000 purchase costs.

I know RED in the UK are selling Gravel Ready Corolla for the FIA approved maximium of 168,000 Euro. Also I have been told that Fiat Sell the GP as a Tarmac car for 168,000 Euro then you have to pay a further 44,000 Euro to get a Gravel kit. Does anyone know the price structure for :

Peugeot 207
Volkswagon
Ford Fiesta

Any other cost/price info would be appreciated

How is the current gearbox-situation now? Only sadev allowed? This is not the first pug gearbox failure in my mind.

Initially only Sadev were allowed, but because of the reliability problems FIA authorized second vendor.

We are not talking threads, but sub forum.

S2000 and IRC is already spread all over he place:
WRC, ERC, asia and so on, I aggree with Sulland: much cleaner to collect everything in one sub-forum !

DonJippo
20th April 2007, 20:08
S2000 is a class like any other why it would need to have own subforum when there does not exist any for other classes either?

IRC...well if it's still existing after two years I'm surprised....

Jarek Z
21st April 2007, 11:17
There cannot be any subforum for S2000 cars. Do we have any subforum for group N and Super 1600 cars?

What do you mean about IRC Don Jippo?

From average european rally driver prospective IRC is a lot better then WRC. It's more tarmak, less travel around the globe, cheapper, and it's a good replacement of the ERC. If properly done IRC will have great success for many years to come.

RS
24th April 2007, 14:55
Citroen just signed up too: http://www.rallye-info.com/article.asp?sid=0&stid=6068

S2000 drivers can join PWRC if they want, but why bother? TV coverage should be better with IRC, and they fight for outright events wins too.

Excellent news for our swedish friends !!!!

Jimmy Joge's 207 S2000 has been at last repaired(its gearbox broke during swedish rally WRC, and the car stayed long time at Peugeot-Sport garage) and he ran and won Lille Mats rallysprint last week-end !!! :bounce:

News read on http://www.norsk-rally.com

Does that mean he also has the 207 well in hands to offer its first swedish victory ?? :)

For your curiosity, in Australian Motorsport News, the Fiesta S2000 cars competing on the second round, in West Australia, of the Australian Rally Championship have had mufflers fitted & now operated at a moderate noise level. While still having some development issues, they were setting top three stage times & finished 4th & 5th.

A reported noise level at the first round in Queensland was measured at 156db. I was there and it did sound awesome. Even while sitting at idle waiting for it's turn on the Super Special, it drowned out the two cars competing on the stage.

Is there any possibility to get some video footage Livewireshock ? That would be so cool.

The footage I have, from the tv coverage, is for some reason without sound!!!!!!!!!!

There are some brief moments on Youtube placed by other forumers.

http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=neilh13&p=v

The videos of Guest & Stacey are of the Ford.

The Nambour showgrounds video, while the picture is terrible, camera way back from the action, you can clearly hear the difference between the Toyota Corolla S2000 & the Ford Fiesta S2000.

Basically the car was fitted with a straight through 3 inch exhaust from the Mountune engine with a bulge looking like a resonator at the rear. There was no baffling at all in place. It sent the co-driver hoarse trying to yell over the sound of the car.

Just found out that the full rally coverage is available on http://rally.stanis.info but it is a big download at 696mb for the hour long show. Gives better information about the car & plus onboards.

It is a S1600 body & chassis from Italy with a new Mountune engine & the Sadev drivetrain. It was finished only the week before the rally. It is widely expected that officials looked the other way in regards to noise, so as to not embarrass Ford on their debut.

Even so, one Fiesta broke a driveshaft on the startline of Stage 1.

HaCo
4th May 2007, 19:05
The second rally they performed a lot better. They were even faster than the corolla Super 2000! But the corolla N4 was too fast, else they would have had a few scratch times...

This car should come to europe definatly, or they should directly build one based on the new fiesta:

That Ford reminds me of that brilliant Peugeot commercial were this Indian guy modifies his 206 by letting an elephant sit on it. This Fiesta looks like an elephant sat on it too. Last week-end there were also two european events with S2000 cars ;)

Ralis da Calheta(Madeira - Portugal) has been won by Vitor Sà on a Fiat Grande Punto S2000 in front of the S1600 drivers...

Rally Targa Florio(Italy) has seen the participation of three S2000 drivers, but none won, and all had more or less puncture problems :(

Giandomenico Basso(Grande Punto) finished 2nd, Luca Rossetti (serious puncture on his 207) finished 3rd, and Alessandro Perico(207) suffered the worst puncture and finished 11th... :mark:

The coming week-end, three events are to follow with S2000 drivers ;)
The turkish round of IRC(Fiat Rally) with Andrea Navarra, Volkan Isik and Anton Allen driving Grande Punto S2000, Nicolas Vouilloz and Enrique-Garcia Ojeda driving 207 S2000...

Rali do FCP(Portugal) with the duel between José Pedro Fontes(Grande Punto S2000) and the championship leader and favourite Bruno Magalhaes(207 S2000)

The Rallye Terre de Provence(France) with the lonely S2000 driver Julien Pressac(207 S2000)...

I like them all, but Fabia looks best so far, but that one is still not in final version.

Of available cars 207 and Abarth GP looks best - maybe just because I do not like silver cars like the Polo's I have seen so far. The toyota looks to close to a normal Corolla in my opinion.

Cant decide, Fiat, Skoda and Peugeot looking all awesome, except the wings :) .
Its just a trifle, but the WRC style wings looks sweeter with those wide bodykits, not these tiny NSF/fast n the furious wings used on street cars.

Another thing I miss on these cars are the turbo, they would be awesome as WRCars.
But yea, theres a reason they dont have, as we know :(

I remember that funny commercial. That Indian guy actually had a domestic Hindustan car, which he transformed into a 206 with the add of an elephant and shortening the bodywork by hitting the wall in reverse.

Personally, I dislike the fact that most modern World Rally Cars tend to have hatchback bodies (C4, Focus, Fabia etc.) instead of being based on family compact cars (Lancer, Impreza, Octavia, etc.).
