SEATs all dominant at Snetterton, that diesel engine is just so superior to anything else on the track. Gordon Shedden the best of the rest. Matt Neal having a disappointing session down in 11th well behind both of his team mates. Mat Jackson's team deserve congratulations on getting their BMW fixed up in time for qualifying after a big crash in practice.

its been an interesting day !! vxr have had an up and down day!! good performance from gio again - had little time running in free practice due to car problems - i think he had an engine change by footage off 888 pit garage camera.. Matt neal had an off in practice and had to have a new intercooler and front bumper.. Tom O-C as been ok - thought he'd be more nearer the front though !! well done SEAT for a great qualifying performance !! but the question is can they do the same on race day ?? big pressure on SEAT this weekend !!

Just noticed that John George's time was actually very good. 1.784s off pole, George should be quite happy about that.
With no succuss ballet on the SEATS it was expected !
Darren Turner has no success ballast, Jason Plato has 18kg of weight. And yes, Giovanardi set a very good time considering his ballast.
Does anyone have the speed trap figures?
http://www.tsl-timing.com/toca/2008/82803trg.pdf
It shows that the SEATs were the fastest through the speed trap in sector 1 (surprise surprise). They were going through 1.8 and 1.5 mph faster than the next fastest (Giovanardi). Slowest is Alan Taylor who is 6.5mph slower through the trap than Darren Turner.

Good races so far, race 2 was more exciting than race 1 with plenty of incidents. SEATs all dominant, Jason Plato taking two very good victories that will improve his championship chances no end. Fabrizio Giovanardi's drive in race 2 was very good coming back from 14th to 3rd. The Motorbase BMWs have gone very well so far today, Rob Collard especially good in race two with a well deserved 4th place. Michael Doyle also had a good race mixing it with the midfield runners in his ageing Honda. Alan Taylor losing a wheel on the parade lap before race 1 was a bit sad, reminds me of Nick Leason back in 2006 at Silverstone.
With Gordon Shedden on pole for race three but with two BMWs directly behind him we might actually get a non-SEAT winning today.
Race 1 Result:
1. Jason Plato SEAT

Don't know if I can really agree with that I am afraid.
Considering how much VXR tend to dominate compared to the tendancies for SEAT to dominate, even if SEAT were to get a hat-trick of wins today that would not reallu go far enough for me to emulate anything like VXR have achieved over the years on a season-by-season basis. VXR would, looking at the times VXR tend to appear over the course of a season on the podium over the last few years, surely still far outweigh SEAT.
I have serious doubts about how soon it will be before we see SEAT dominate in the fashion we are seeing today again.

Can Plato make it three out of three starting from eighth on the grid?...
Was it in any doubt that he wouldn't?
Perish the thought that SEAT may take that away. How dare they try to be as dominant as Vauxhall. The nerve. But it's OK everyone, you can all breath a huge sigh of relief. Normal service was quickly resumed as expected. Vauxhall are safely restored to their rightful place as the most dominant team in the BTCC and SEAT are back being the perenial challengers.
Vauxhall have had years of dominance and not a word has ever been uttered. SEAT win two in a row and everyone was up in arms from what I saw on ITV4, yet again based on them having the unfair advantage of the TDi.
Please. Someone tell me. What must it take for a domiance by SEAT to be accepted by the tintop community because as yet it ain't. And it's rapidly taking it's toll on my emotions.

All that does surely is congratulate SEAT.

All I did here was to voice the view that the reason why the dominance of SEAT is so special is because VXR are expected to dominate. Something I think a lot of people are more used to seeing.
Even if that team I so loyally follow were to never win a race again I know I can look back on this day, put my head up and say "That was the day when SEAT were truly dominant".
Need I say more on that? Hardly the words of someone who has a tendancy to be a bit extreme. More of a person who is just simply so glad is ge that SEAT finally show the same brilliance that VXR has shown virtually for 8 years that even if they weren't to win again ever this would be considered and forever more the day everything came good.

When were SEAT being cocky?
What kind of things were they saying or doing that perveyed the sense they were being cocky?
Why does everyone seem to hate SEAT? Why do so many want to wish them to fail?
All I want is for SEAT to be accepted and respected. Not for everyone to hate them so much they must have a pathetic little dig and a cheap little laugh at them when things go tits up. Is that too much to ask?

Not only that, but even the official championship website, seems to have forgotten Mr Pinkney's third at Knockhill Round 23 2006 (http://www.btccaction.co.uk/results/2006/rd23.php).

Excellent day for Motorbase, six points finishes in six attempts. Best finish ever for the team, Steven Kane's first podium and he showed he had the pace to fight right at the front. I did get irritated by everyone on TV forgetting about Dave Pinkney's 3rd place at Knockhill in 2006 even if it was inherited after Darren Turner's disqualification.
Mat Jackson got another race win, he led well and never put a foot wrong.

Went to Snetterton. First BTCC meeting I have been to this season.
Must say that the SEATs do not sound like a racing car. That is sacrilege and their engine should be banned!

I don't like SEAT I have to say.
You not alone. You and half the tintop fraternity.
Still, you prove my point. Is going and supporting a team worth the stick you may actually recieve for supporting them? I think not.
I would rather support no team at all than follow one that get's stick continually whenever they are sucessful or try to be.
I just don't see why SEAT just doesn't up sticks and leave the BTCC. Nobody likes them or wants them here.
Must say that the SEATs do not sound like a racing car. That is sacrilege and their engine should be banned!
I am starting to think that way to. Nobody want them to run it so why are SEAT running it? It would make far better sense for them to give and go back to petrol and stop all the hastle and stick they recieve.
If I was doing something you all didn't like me doing it I would stop it. Between achieving what I want to achieve by doing what I do and stopping the hastle and stick you give me I know what I would choose. Stopping hastle and stick is always better than achieving any greater goal.
Nobody deserves to recieve hastle and stick. I don't care who they are. I believe in working toward a world where live in peace and learn to respect and tollerate each other. Shame I am alone.

One thing that doesn't seem to have been mentioned from yesterday's action was how close to the pack Vaulkhard got in the Chevy.
Shame the results didn't reflect the performance, I think the team took a good step forward!
Also, the SEAT team manager did kinda put the kiss of death on the team by saying that Plato could win R3, and that Turner could catch Plato!
Great win for Jackson in the final race, and a superb performance from Kane. What those performances all seem to prove is that Steven Jelley just can't cut it in the BTCC, all the BMWs had a good weekend, and yet again Jelley seems to just drop down the pack.

Vaulkhard had a good weekend, he's been close to the points several times this year already so Snetterton didn't appear as good in the end. But for a puncture in race 3(?) he would have been right up there.
I've brought up Jelley's results several meetings ago, but they still aren't really improving. Even though the following page is just a list of numbers, it's not as if there's been any real incident or problem prventing Stephen getting better results:

Went to Snett for first time to a race meeting at the weekend. Ive been before but to rallys there so new experiance.
First comment nice track(knew that anyway) but from an onsite speccy what a crap place to watch, if you were not in place by god knows what time you only had limited viewing at the major points of interest.
As for all the Seat dominate rubbish well if they couldnt win at Snett then they may as well not bother the track is totally geared to the car or should I say the engine. Watched from first corner and saw cars enter main straight, one of the Vauxhalls was right up one of the Seat bumper on exit but within 300 yards the Seats 1 if not 2 car lengths ahead all by turbo boost.
But the main man even full of weight still bagged good points. Never thought id support a foriegn driver ahead of a load of Brits but when you are up close and see Gio on the limit hes the man.
